Try and get involved with a local boardshop. Maybe start getting some demos or contests going through them. Also system 2.0 might be feasible if you get a few people that have some cash. Try and talk to the boardshops around the area that aren't carrying skates and let them know that they should think about it, (start carrying just a few skates). I'm in the same situation up here in MN. Ive also been posting some vids on my local boardshop's site so kids get the hint of what wakeskating is all about and how legit it has become. Hope this helps

pt.2
Hey guys,
Good to hear back from you. All your thoughts and ideas have been great.
Sounds like most of you are the same page as me and you have already have taken some action to get things going where you are.

I have had a winch for a couple years now. It isn't exactly how I want it but it is still fun. Ideally all summer I would be all over the mountains with it but I just can't get it running consistently enough.
I have however been playing with it in the snow this winter and that has been a blast.

Response to my original email was awesome. Most people replied with great ideas. I have some new people to ride with and a couple people willing to sponsor events. So far, because I have been in Calgary for the last 5 years, I have been just getting a sense of where the scene is at in Sask. From what I have gathered so far, there are a number of skaters there but they are all independent and mostly just do their own thing. I want to bring them all together and combine our efforts.

I am off work for the next three months (parental leave) so I have lots of time to make something happen. That being said, I won't be moving to Sask until 2011 so this year I just want to get the ball rolling and then the year after really get things set. That is why I am trying to talk with as many similar thinking people now. Really brainstorm and get fresh ideas.

I really think that winching could really take off in Sask. Like I said, I have built a couple and have helped a couple people build there own. I would like to see riders everywhere take some action and have setups with winches, rails, cool new spots, etc. I have also been thinking about how realistic the idea of a System 2.0 - http://www.thewakeparkproject.com/systems/system2.php would be.

Anyways, that is kind of where I am and where I am coming from. Any help, advice, whatever is always welcome and if you ever need anything, just give me a shout

Jeff Miller
