ps3 problem

i've had it since they came out and haven't had any problems til today. it won't play ANY blu-ray discs, but ps2, ps3 games and regular dvd's work no problem. anyone else had this issue?

ya. one of the main reasons i got it is because it has a blu-ray. it has worked fine and today quit working. i did a system restore but it still doesn't work so i guess i'll have to pony up 149$ plus shipping to get it fixed Sad

mojo, ps3 games are on blu-ray disks. but blu-ray movies? weird. if it were me i would try to sell that one and just mention it doesn't play blu-ray movies if it's that expensive to fix. most people don't even have any and would appreciate a cheap system and the new ones are 300

mojo, I have the same problem, I got it when it came out too an 80 gig. The stupid thing is that sony made the warranty only last till it starts having problems. We tried everything to fix it with every method online but nothing works the only option to fix it is to send it in. Also, my girl friend had the same problem a month ago with hers and when she send it in they said the blueray scanner on the ps3 doesnt have a very long life, so that basically just craps out then the disk based games will start to freeze too.

i guess i'll just sell it for like 200$. i'll split shipping costs. if a controller will make or break the deal i'll include one, but don't want to. let me double check everything and see if ps3 games work and ps2 games and what not and i'll let ya'll know.

the problem is it's a ps3. get an xbox 360.

wakemitch, hahah exactely.
but atleast xbox owned up too their mistakes and fixed all the three ring problems for free. and the warranties pretty legit on it too

wakemitch, haha i'm not saying they last forever but in my opinion it's a much better system. i had a launch xbox from november 2001 all the way until 2006 when i got a 360. had my 360 since then and have never had a problem with it or the original.

i tried playing a ps3 game and it does not work either. i looked up the error code and it has something to do with the firmware being bad out of the box. im supposed to call sony and get it replaced, but i bet they say go buy a new one. I won't buy another one if that is the case. i'll just get a real blu-ray player that will last more than 2.5 years. so if anyone wants a glorified dvd player let me know.
