i was wondering if anyone has tried it.

i tried the gum and the lozenges...they didnt work. cold turkey didnt work either.

it is time to stop smoking cigarette's. i did the math....around a thousand bucks a year up in smoke. i thought about it...i could have my own jon boat/winch by now.

i've tried it. i quit for 3 months after i was done with it, but the first patch or two are harsh. they make you feel like you have the flu for a couple hours. DO NOT smoke on it. it's def. better than the gum and what not.

A good friend of mine is/was a 20+ year smoker. His fiancee demanded that he stop smoking since they had a kid on the way, so he got on a patch. He skipped the high dosage patch and went to the middle one. Soon he was on the low level patch and doing great. He said he could finally smell his girlfriend's hair products in her hair, and could taste his foods so much better. He also said he couldn't stand being around others who were smoking because he didn't like smelling their smoke. Unfortunately, we are often around people who are smoking when we're out on the boat, so he never completely got away from smoking. He has gotten way better, though. Maybe a one or two cigs a day if we're bbqing or on the boat. I think he realized that he can easily cut back considerably on his smoking, but quitting would be too much of a struggle because he's around other smokers so much that the temptation will always be there. I also dated a girl for awhile who was a light smoker, but couldn't quit because her brothers and roomate and friends all smoked.

So to sum things, up- the patches worked for him, but what stopped him from quitting altogether was the fact that he couldn't avoid people who smoked. He would have had to find new friends or change his his lifestyle and that would have been far too much of an adjustment for him to really be feasible.

Anyways, just thought I'd share...

My girlfriend used them (check Costco for deals on Nicoderm CQ - we bought her full supply when they had a $15 off coupon per box), and she did well and has not smoked for like 4 months. Her only complaints were that it itched for the first 15-20 minutes after putting it on, and that her dreams were pretty crazy if she wore it through the night. She had smoked for like 15 years.

do the research bro. how many people killed themselves on it compared to how many took it. smoking's killing you already and you do that.

i dont smoke so i cant say but my room mate took it for 3 1/2 weeks and hasn't smoked since. i asked him about it and he said it didn't make him wanna kill himself.

good luck bro whtever you do i hope you quit.

my dad is a doctor and wants me to quit smoking but said no to chantix. it's to new. and suicide related to side affects would mean it caused death i.e. causation

i have no idea. i'd imagine it happened during a controlled study, maybe not. either way it is the oral habit+nicotine(more so habit i think) that keeps us smoking. im a 9 year veteran of smoking. the patch is the best way to quit IMO, but you have to WANT to quit. it's not effortless.

i took chantix for a month and hated it... i can see how a weak minded person could really get depressed on it.

your weakminded comment sounded like a catholic comment regarding someone who commited suicide.
