You better post a video after you crank that beast for the first time. Pictures don't relay the awesomeness of sound!!! Good luck with the install, it's going to be fun!!

Did Paul tell you he's going to sell his white s13 and pick up a full size tundra? We're just gonna have to keep it true with my s14 Very Happy

taku, Haha for sure. It's going to be a loooonnnnnggg install. I have alot of mechanical and eletric stuff that needs to go on. Luckly a guy on Supra Forums sent me a base MAP. You can see my ECU box in the pic. getting rid of the MAF and running it all MAP. Stoked! Can't wait to hook up the laptop and play with all the settings and get it dialed in.

As for the S13.. WTF? how much???

Why not just drop a Tundra motor in the S13? Laughing

We're gunna have to hold it down for wakeskating.com car club Smash

Why change to a pressure sensor as opposed to getting a bigger mass air flow? Don't know much about the differences in ECU's performance wise but seems like it may be a big headache. Or is it not that difficult of a swap? Just curious as to the thought process here...

i want to see engine pics after those headers and everything are installed. changing the ecu can do wonders. i know that even in mercedes AMG you can order a new ECU from renntech and it's over 10,000$ but it adds hp and torque. i don't know anything about it really, but i tuned mine in my yukon along with throttle body spacer, new plug wires, k&n cold air intake, mass air flow sensor. i want headers and exhaust damnit. anyway, are you going to get that dyno'd when youre done? i got a sick pond at my buddy's house that's about to get a 24' flat rail, probably a 5 fiberon wide box, and hopefully an incline rail. i don't want any help with funds, but help building would be rad if anyone wants to come sesh

senorbueno, I understand your question very well, On my SR20 I ran a GT2871R and I upgraded to a 300ZX MAF like you said and I was running an SAFC2. Which to me is sort of like a band-aid, You can't really tune well with an SAFC.

I could of saved lots of money on my SC300 build and my turbo would be on my car right now if I went the SAFC/larger MAF route, But with my 2JZ, this is a whole other ball game. I'm going for massive power this time. No half stepping.

Anyway, There are two types of 2JZ's, The 2JZ-GTE Which comes turbocharged, and the 2JZ-GE which is N/A. (Well technically 3 if you count the VVT-i but it's irrelevant to your question.)

Anyway the 2JZ-GTE already runs Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) from factory.

and the 2JZ-GE, (which mine is OB1) Runs a karmen vortex sensor, which is really restrictive.

I wanted to convert to MAP for 4 reasons...

1. the stock MAF is very restrictive
2. you have to recirculate your BOV between the turbo and MAF to avoid stalling.
3. Tuning will be MUCH easier AND a lot better.
4. It just looks BADASS having no MAF hooked up to the turbo!

Besides It seems pretty easy to install, It came with a pressure sensor that i tap into the manifold and then run a vacuum line to the ECU, and of course wiring it all in.

Then start tunning!!!! Very Happy

mojo, Those arn't headers nikka! Twisted Evil

soy escuala, gotchya. Did a project in college with mass flow and pressure flow sensors and going from one to another was a beach to get accurate readings (but this wasn't on a car and it wasn't with air).

Keep us updated

mojo, It's a Turbo. Laughing

And like me and senorbueno were talking about earlier, I'm running MAP so there is no need for a MAF, I can run an open turbo if I wanted to, or just stick the filter on like that.

But I do have a 4" stainless intake pipe which I'm going to be running. Smash
