I hate that argument about being scared to SB b\c it hurts more. You get worked in both of them. A few days ago my arm got caught in the handle on a back one...now it looks like a tiger got ahold of it. |

We all know you can get hurt on a wakeskate (be it getting caught in the handle, various knee injuries, etc), but you have to admit that concrete is much gnarlier than water. You're (the "general you" and not anyone specific) kidding yourself if you think our repeated falls on the water would compare to doing anything similar on a skateboard.
And I don't think wakeskating and skateboarding are the same and I think wakeskating is being sold short if people think it's some sort of skateboarding knock off (even though skateboarding is a huge influence for wakeskating). I think spowell said it best in simple terms: "most of us do skateboard i would say, but wakeskating is DIFFERENT."
Plus, so many people have had the chance to explore a new medium and they've brought a combination of new tricks and tricks that came from skating that were figured out on a larger board. (In a way, i'm tempted to call the latter re-invention, especially since years ago people didn't think 360 flips were possible on a wakeskate.) Others have been able to use both their creativity and imaginations to invent or apply technology for wakeskating, taking their inspiration from skate, wake and snow to create something different. I guess I'm trying to say that with all of the work and imagination that others have put into wakeskating, I think it's very limiting to say that all wakeskating is is people trying to skateboard on the water. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

| All I am saying is that we (or at least I) don't wakeskate b\c of the fear to skateboard and afraid to get hurt. I agree that concrete is a beach and hurts to take a slam but regardless of the pain wakeskating is indeed "different" and gives you a feeling that no other can. IMO |

what i said was a joke. i dont actually think that way.
i dont wakeskate because when i fall it hurts less, ido it because i <3 it haha.
But its scientific fact that concrete is alot more dense than water so its less risk factor.
i would never try to back3 w2w if the wake was concrete. |

lords of dogtown-skate swimming pools- a standing concrete wave 365 days of the year-and look at skating now, imagine wakeskating in 30years time
wakeskating seems like its not gonna hurt so much as every one has at some point come of a skateboard and hit concrete its just as easy if not more so to bust a knee ankle etc. thou if you end up slidding on ur nuts when hiting a rail its gonna hurt just as much in both formats.
but then no matter what you do if you push ur riding ability's you could get hurt, thats for me what makes it fun. doing things you cant do, till you can. _________________ The views and opinions expressed here are mine and im well aware that your views and oppinions may not be the same as mine but thats the diffrence between you and me.
