dirtysouthwakeskate, equal rights would be letting the girls have their own division/contests in wakeskating. not making them compete against the men.
contests are what make this sport lame anyways. they're never set up right to showcase the talent thats out there. lame |

Oh, where do I start?
I always thought it's too bad female wakeskaters lack soooo much when it comes to style. Too many surface shuvs and ass-checks, if you ask me. I wish there was someone I could look up to, or rather someone for the younger chicas to look up to, but there hasn't really been anyone all these years.
I think that Steph Wamsley vid was kinda hawt. Best one I've seen, at least.
I also think the point about women's snowboarding was interesting. Do you remember the Winter Olympics in like 2002 when Kelly Clark's airs were twice as high as the other girls'? A lot has happened since...
Even though I often think pro female wakeskaters have a long way to go, I still think they should compete. We need to start somewhere, right?
My biggest issue with female wakeskaters is all the fizzzznackling "sexy" bikini-shots. The come-get-me-eyes and all the posing in front of the camera. Why do they all (almost) feel a desperate need to look sexy? It's as if the riding wasn't enough... and perhaps it isn't. And IF the whole charade is because they're trying to sell more wakeskating gear... well that's just plain studpidity.
Oh, and my girl Michaela has got mad style. For sure.
Oh, and it's good to be back, haven't been reading the forums for a looong time! _________________ 01/20/2009. Niko-chan! |

Maria, I was amazed to see your post.
Girls do some competing over here; they have divisions at the wake games, nationals, and worlds. I know they were working to get a divsion at the toe jam and they needed a certain number of girls to have one. But I don't think it should be about having a divsion at the toe jam, so much as being able to support one through a number of firls who have a high level of riding. At that point, I think the separate divsion would be worth it and well deserved. I think the toe jam has always been recognized for having the highest level of wakeskating for most any competitive event, and I think the women should legitimately hold up those standards. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

wakemitch, I see, so then should the girls be judged on the "girl" level of wakeskating or the "guy" level of wakeskating..... Mmmmmmmm
I'll go wakeskate and let ya know what I think!!
Dude, if some guy with good wakeskatin skill had a sex change he could rule the girls... Mmmmm, kinda like Dallas did in WB, but I'm not sayin she's a dude, she just ruled the chicks for a few years.... _________________ OTT, West West Yo

Haha, thats crazy! But thanks, nonetheless!
electricsnow, Oh, we have women's divisions here too! There are usually 3-4 of us at the nationals! I just figure that since I ride, I might as well enter into the competitions. It's more of a relaxed hanging-out-with-the-homies thing here, anyway.
I haven't been riding in a while, but I'm getting more and more into it again. I was slightly rounded around the waist last summer, but that all came off in January.
I will check this Jen person out, definitely. _________________ 01/20/2009. Niko-chan! |

i never really understood why women's riding in every sport was always worse than the guys.
my sister says it's because guys have stronger muscles...
i'm thinking that girls are more afraid of falling than guys are ....which is why girls are always sub- par compared to mens.
as far as women representing our sport as "pros" i think they have a long way to go before they get my stamp of approval _________________ http://www.stickandflick.com
