So ive been watching lost, its mad freakin good... at least the first season was. 2nd season got a bit dull and drawn out. Im attempting watch the first ep. of the 3rd season, but sadly im in a predicament involving a piece of shizzle mac. My g/f wanted to go to her parents place for dinner, they are not here yet, because they are at work till 5, so i figured id get an episode in while we wait. She was bringing her mac, so i threw the first episode on from my external hard drive, then ejected and we were off. I get here and quicktime cant freakin play it... and i donno how to make it... it says its not able to play it.... piece of crap. So i went to try to get VLC player and that is taking over an hour to download, and its not the internet here because it is fast, its gotta be this trash can of a comp, cuz on my comps it only takes a second or 2.... God i hate macs, no1 even has to respond to this.... /rant.

Don't blame Apple. It's not their fault that you're girlfriend is too retarded to update her sh*t.

Microsoft has as many updates as Apple does, you just might have it set to do it automatically.

What if your computer is more than a year or two old and has a battery that lasts only 45 minutes under load? It would likely die about halfway through that 2 hour long update and probably f*ck up a whole bunch of stuff. So they've added a dialog box to remind all the idiot users to plug it in before proceeding.

That said, I don't think it REQUIRES a power cord to be plugged in before you update. I usually don't even bother plugging my laptop in before I run updates...

it just reminds you to plug it in... and you have to do is click proceed anyway and it will download without a power source... but im sure in your hatred of macs you decided not to read the whole dialog box... lol

pc users are retarded lol

I saw this thread, and knew it was going to be INSTANT LOL.

It was instant LOL.

Alexxx, I think it's pretty darn cute that you're just like my grandma when it comes to computers. (apparently PC's as well, since you don't even know that windows frequently has updates, many that ask you to restart your computer.) "What?! I TRIED THAT!" or "That wasn't an option when I was looking at it earlier." You can blame the "piece of crap" all day long, but every single one of your "OMG MACS are TERRIBLE!!!11eleventy111!!" posts have been due to user error. Precious. Laughing Laughing

I'm a PC too...and ive never had a problem with macs, i just perfer PC.

-=AlexXx=-, Most likely it's because you cant take a file from a PC and put it onto a mac...i am a PC user and you know that...but Microsoft is the reason for your problem...Apple is trying to work and make it more convenient for everyone...microsoft just makes it a beach for us to work with apple.

Apple has a file format (HFS) and Microsoft has a file format (NTFS) and they don't mix well...BUT...Apple can read the Microsoft file format and access all the files, it just can't write to it. So if Alex plugged his external into a mac, he could see all his movie/video files and transfer them onto his girlfriend's Apple. Unfortunately, I don't believe PC's can read an Apple-formatted drive.

scott a, Ya thats exactly why. Ive taken stuff off hers comp though and put it on my harddrive... that was never a problem :/

I realize these are all user errors, but still ive NEVER had a error like that on my PC....

All im saying is Macs are not as "easy" as the commericals and the media make them out to be. Im sure after getting used to them they would be fine, but honestly there is alot that is just annoying. no left right click? gotta hit control or w/e.... Finder?? wtf? w/e... I knew i would get a bunch of hate and thats half the reason i made the thread. Soulprogression, lol miss type... sorry.
