Sick trick, Everyone needs to stop being a bunch of negative dick heads. If its not "integ style" then its not integ style. It is very inapropriate to call out another riders style. Make no mistake, thats reeds style, most of reeds tricks look like that (w2w). If its not for you then its not for you, But dont try to take away from the trick.

This kind of shyt will kill wakeskating, and before you know it, it will be as gay as wakeboarding. NO one will want to see it, and no one will care when its gone............

Having an opinion on a trick or rider is going to kill wakeskating? How? No one said anything about "Integ Style." There are a lot of people I would rather watch ride over Reed. I don't like his style, shoot me if my opinion is inappropriate. Lolz. This is a discussion board and dismissing style from a rider's attributes just sounds ridiculous. No, Im not taking away from the trick, I'm sure it's difficult but it looks better behind ski when it's not late, in my opinion.

Your right...... You my friend dont own a wakeskate company. Imagine your Reed, and some little dyck head starts talking shyt on how your tricks look on the e-net, Is that offensive ? not really. But when the owner of a company comes on here and does it, a line has been crossed. I cant speek for anyone on Integ, but if I rode for a company that was talking negatively about one of my friends riding on a public forum......uhhhh things would be kinda akward next time i went riding with said friend.

And to answer your question yes, If Sattelyte starts talking shyt on Oak riders, and Oak starts in on Arson guys, and INteg starts in on hyperlite. Wakeskating will be destroyed. All the energy that goes into the creative process of bringing new, and inovative boards to the world, will be wasted. All in the name of stating ones "opinion".

opinions?

My opinion is that erich was not trying to fully harsh reed or "destroy" wakeskating. Think back to the early 00s when the cassette dudes (I will use them as an example because they were very out there and in the public's eye. There are other dudes I used to chat with and we talked about style and whatever else.) and the fact that they weren't afraid to criticize something that was wack, be it those manual things on the gate, or myles hating chases' ole at worlds (or wherever that was). Would you say that Cassette or any of those dudes ruined wakeskating?

I personally don't always agree with some opinions (that's life, right?), but I understand that the people who are really involved in wakeskating care about it and want to see the best for it. That includes riding styles, because stuff like that directly affects the perception others will have towards wakeskating.

In this case, I think erich is in that same boat, as is pretty much everyone else who talked about the trick. For the most part, if you're on this site talking about wakeskating, it's because you have an interest and an opinion and you care. We all want to watch riders that inspire us or make us feel good about wakeskating and the progression of the artform. It's clear that we all have different tastes, and we value different riders for different reasons. But in the end, I don't EVER seeing it getting that personal, where one team completely bashes another team, blah blah blah. I think riders will always be called out, and there are only rare instances where it was personal.

Battle of the Board Companies? Demise of Wakeskating?

Thomas Horrell and Scott Byerly could tell me they don't like my style(at the same time) and I would still go out and shred my wakeskate... and probably take their comments as critique and work on my riding.

Just my opinion. Cool

tad, I"m glad your high self esteem has put your wakeskating (in your mind at least) to the level of Reed Hansen's.

electricsnow, Reed kills it and is a very nice guy. I agree. IMO that is not the best shot of him.
PIRATE, way to twist it. Erich said nothing about reed, he was talking about the trick and his body position.

i love how some people conveniently misses the point ... go on with 3 paragraphs rambling about stuff i never said... like i said it... your argument is completely devoid of reality... Pirate

i guess plain English just isn't enough...

just because you own a company doesn't mean you have to waive your rights to an opinion... to sellout your views for political means. Just to sell a few decks... f that... i say what i feel, and most importantly i do what i say... and i stand up to it... knowing i did what i think is right... if you don't like it, thats your opinion and i respect that... but can you respect my opinion? you don't have to agree with it... can you hear what i'm actually saying... and have an intelligent argument as to why you disagree... then lets discuss it... Are you spending your time typing about what you actually think... or are you typing about what you want to distort...

once again with highlights and bold print:::::::::::::::

Schmaltz wrote:
my point was... heavy skates over 10-11 lbs. makes for mobbed tricks...
look at the 6th picture in the sequence...
how many pro skaters have their skate floating 3 feet below them?
shizzle thats caught high ='s more control of your board not your board controlling you. watch as time goes on in this sport... that is where the gold standard of style will be.

no disrespect to reed or the skills he has...

...obviously it's just my opinion so wakeskatedude now it's your turn to spin everything i just wrote... have fun.

Exactly ...

Once again... overly heavy boards don't react as fast as lighter boards (that was my point)... then i said "no disrespect to Reed or the skills he has"... how crystal is that? i can't do a switch 3 shuv wake to wake... i think it's sick... the photo just happen to visually make my point.

Also it is my job... to see deep into this sport (every aspect) ... to take it all in ... to ride... to discuss it... to live it ... cause i love it... honestly it's my life. i owe it to my team, my customers, the sport, my self, to see beyond the current horizon... to predict the future, shape the future, stop the gimmicks...
and fiznackling do something about it... have an opinion about it...
to breathe it into the world... birth it ... talk about it, type about it...

Schmaltz, I completely understand your point. If I come off like a D!ck i apologize, I do dis-agree with you though. I think that you as the owner of a wakeskate company should hold yourself to a higher standard. If the way someone does a trick isn't for you, then its not for you. You show everyone else how tricks should look through Nick, Chris, Blake, Ryan ect..... and you do it through any media outlet availible, letting your actions speak louder then your words. Remeber you can talk all day about whats cool, whats "right", But nothing will change peoples minds like influence.

You, Bobby and I butt heads so much becasue we love wakeskating........Were on the Same Team... We just believe differently.

What if someone posted something with Nick in it and the board was 10ft behind him cause the wind was 25mph and a 7lbs board was to lite for that kind of wind (happens alot). And then people started claiming that was the problem with 7lbs boards. Would you not take that as personel ? You put your heart and soul into these boards, someones saying your baby isn't right...... Can you say you wouldn't be pissed off? Im guessing you would claim that it was rider error, cause nick doesn't have that problem....... But nick doens't have alot of the problem most riders do. Catch my drift.... Gota go to dinner and drink more beer.....If my next post is sloppy i appologize.

PIRATE, I respect you. you and I have gone back in fourth over the years. But come on man, If tony fin came on here and started critiquing someones riding that would be differn't. Erich is a wakeskater all the way to the bone. his riding speaks for itself. when we ride together he pushes me so much. we are riders for life. regardless if we own a company.

and that is the point i don't understand!!!

that means the lightest board is the best!!!! why you don't prefer boards with a weight less then 5lbs? because a board with only 5lbs reacts faster then the integ boards with around 7lbs

i can understand that you like boards with a weight around 7lbs but this is a personal preference made by you! other people like boards around 10lbs

and
you said heavy board are beginner board! and that is wrong in my opinion! IT IS A PERSONAL PREFERENCE!

you said heavy boards are for mobbed tricks, that is also wrong in my opinion because a lot of bi level and concave wood (>10lbs) shredder flicks their boards very nice

you ask for pro rider which have their board 3 feet below them, all pro rider have tricks where the board is 3 feet below them also nick (look at the picture), but i hope that all pro skater working on this

it's all preference at the end of the day...

540 big or 180 late 3-shove, I bet 90% of people whom are talking negatively about it couldn't even dream of pulling it. The shizzle was popped and sick. The board was only low to the ground after the (late) shove. It's in the nature of people to hate on things because they are jealous. It's just life... don't let it get to you. Smash
