I tested my winch the other day and when i got pulled by it, it just dragged me, i didnt flatten off. im not sure what im doing wrong. i have a 6.5hp motor, 12 tooth torque converter, 60 tooth sprocket, and 7in diameter spool.
i know someone else has had to have this problem.
any ideas what to do differently? |

Hey bmr,
you're right about one thing.... someone has exactly the same problem - me. I'm running 7" spool with 10t - 54t , so ratios are about the same.
Difference is i'm on a honda 8hp, but a load of winches on here use only 6.5's - so that shouldn't be the problem.
I think my spool just needs to spin faster, cos i got enough torque from the small diameter spool. Trouble is finding a sprocket under 54t is proving hard right now.
Other thing i might try next is to take out the governor from the motor which will make it rev higher bit of a ball ache to remove tho _________________ I love riding boards like a fat kid loves cake.

bump up to an 8 in spool... or drop down in gear size... 54 seems to be pretty common with a 7 in spool _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |
