paulmc, yeah i have looked there but it seems like that site kinda fell apart, doesn't look like too many people use it anymore. i was looking for some new great ideas, or actually be able to get some responses if i saw something worth trying. |

indeed not many people use it, but the search through the forums, they are encyclopedic.
One that always sticks in my mind is the sticky post in the retrieval system forum!
Simple way to make a spool...
Also there other ways too (cutting disc's, threaded rod, tube to go over the threaded rod and hubs to hold it all on the axle).
As for responses, most of the guys that posted on there now post on here. So you can always find what you need, plus you can always try sending a pm to someone on winchskating they may respond. |

go get two 20"x20" pieces of aluminum 1/4" thick cut 14" circles with a jigsaw with a good metal blade get a length of schedule 40 1" id alumn pipe for the axle to run on and use the rest as 6" spacers with long bolts to hold the 6" space at 8" id circle might have to weld a lil but it won't cost much check out my winch on the topic of slothboy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Like the other guys said, use the stop signs for the sides. I used a scuba tank with the ends cut off as the inner part of my spool. I drilled holes and tapped them and just bolted the side pieces of the spool on. This was about the only part of my winch that didnt require fiddling. _________________ Back from the dead |
