Hey guys i always wanted to build a winch and just got some money and a free engine. Got all the parts in today from BMI karts and northern tool. Had some problems installing the tav and broke my free motor while doing it this morning so searched up on craigs list and got a brand new $75 6.5hp Briggs and stratton today to replace it lol. Started going at it since 10pm and got the axle and spool and sprocket mounted.

Here are some pics!

enjoinick, just a little heads up I used to have a spool built the same way, but the bolts (spindles) pulled right through the saw discs almost nailing my friend so keep an eye on that

o wow ill have to look out for that was going to try add a splash guard so that may slow the bolt down lol

Alright i got everything mounted up and everything fits perfect Very Happy

One problem its a way to slow
I have a tav2 with 10T going to a 60T so should be a good setup from what i have read

the spool ID is only 6" so many need to increase to 8" to get the speed i need and may put a smaller sprocket b/c it feels like i got the torque needed to get me up and going

I have a 6.5 hp with a 6'' spool and a 10/56 ratio and that did the trick. It was too slow with a 10/60 ratio
