I would like to know if the new ones ride like the 08, I have a 40.5 SST 08 and I love it but in case it breaks I'll buy a 09, just wanted to know if the whole composite doesn't change the feeling too much?

BARoNTiERi, no they are composite so they ride like a fast snappy sst

they really are pretty awesome , but i do believe they feel "sharper" due to the accuracy of a composites edge, vs. a wood shaped edge

yeah i think the flex and loose screw issue is a delicate balance....

keep them tight enough to stay but if you get them too tight you'll snap the board

BARoNTiERi, the new obscura is banging
and the 40.5 is as well

im just not ready to learn a new board yet so im going to ride the 08's

09 sst is the best one yet. i have had every model of sst and the all composite one is the lightest by far(even before the wood bottoms waterlog).Ilove the rail cut on the new model too.

So with the 09's there isn't a problem with the bottom deck snapping anymore?

The 09 bottoms are composite (40.5's if that's what you're asking)^^^

I should get some locktite, I have to tighten the screws after every couple sets Mad

the 09 sst is like my 07 prototype sst and the 08 sst, its strong like the proto and pops like it too and is light like the 08 sst, now it does ride higher in the water do to its comp bottom and rides a bit faster too, oh and you never need to tighten the bolts. Best board i have ever ridden!!!!!!!

When Liquid Force first introduced the SST, they said it was a brand new concept. They said it had the beloved wood snap off the water from the bottom deck with a durable, composite top deck. It was supposed to a brand new idea.

Now that they made the whole thing composite, it makes me feel like they were marketing a gimmick.
