Alright just bought my first wakeskate (Hyperlite Scape 112- I'm prepared for flaming by you guys) and am considering building a winch. I have everything laying around, minus the line/handle (as if that's hard to get haha)
My question is- I have a spare Rotax 440 motor laying in my shop from when I used to race snocross. I don't know how much you guys know about snowmobile engines, but they run on a TAV style system to engage the drive.
I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to try it out? I know people beach about having too much power- but this seems like it'd work out pretty well.
Any thoughts? _________________ You can't get hurt in the air.

Really where at? I'm out east- 5 minutes from the Ronkonkoma train station. Where do you go? _________________ You can't get hurt in the air.

Oh no shizzle! That's not too too bad man..where do you ride? Do you winch at all? I'm lookin to start wakeskating soon. I just went wakeboarding today off Gilgo behind my friend's jetski in a 5-4-3 wetsuit and it was still chilly in the water ha _________________ You can't get hurt in the air.

my step-dad is a huge sled-neck, he wanted me to try using a rotax 680... i figured that would be just a little overkill. i wanted a winch that would be easily set-up and that i could move to anywhere. that is a lot of motor to be hauling arround. plus i am building a MTN sled for when i move to Bellingham in the fall and those 680's rip hard
a winch with a sled engine, possible? definitely
practical? not for what i was looking for. |

SwissArmyKnife I'd also be using this as a towrope for snowboarding, so portability is achieved with some ballin tires lol
Volcomstone167 Definitely let me know when you're gonna be back, I gotta check that out! _________________ You can't get hurt in the air.

joeyskids, we use my winch for snowboarding as well. its just nice to be able to hand it over a fence or log. but you should defiantly drop that 440 onto a frame. that winch would SCREAM |
