great article.

i love knowing why a board is designed a certain way. im still not a fan of pushed out concave. it seems that size 12 feet would be in the minority. oh well.

denskiesATX, how can you say. just because its a composite, and has larger kicktails then normal boards. how can you come to the conclusion that a board is a rip off just by appearance. doing that is like saying that every single concave board rips off a cassette. thats a terrible assumption

denskiesATX, it looks nothing like the mod. And derek has been working on stuff like this for years so I know for a fact he wasn't influenced by that wakeskate.

I've been interested in skates like this since I saw the Byerly one at Surf Expo a while back. I'd really like to try one. I do LOVE me some bi-levels but at the same time I think composite is the way to go for stuff like this. I know you don't get the same properties (flex, etc) but it's a somewhat similar concept.

Anyone in the Tampa area have a super steep concave skate they'd like to let me try at the cable sometime?

GnarShredd, there might be a way for you to try an intox. Let me get back to you on that.

i think it looks like the byerly. if we're going to go name calling at least go to the o.g. board with that shape. just don't buy one. does obrien even have any skaters on the team? they are last on my list of a company i would buy any gear from be it wakeboards or wakeskates

it looks like any thick compression molded wakeskate if you want to make sweeping generalizations and not actually pay attention to details in design. the byerly wakeskate's features are much more extreme than the intox, and you can start by looking at the kicktails.

And I know derek doesn't really care about what anyone on here thinks about the design like if it looks like a byerly, a mod, or whatever other similar wakeskate you can think of. But I will back him on it. He's been messing with wakeskate designs for a long time and I know he's had this one in the works since 03 or so.
