which camcorder?

Sorry if this isnt really on topic here, delete it you need to.. but I am buying a camcorder to film some snowboarding and skating when it gets warmer. I'm wondering if you guys can steer me on which to buy. I dont know much about them at all.. and I'm not trying to get the top of the line gear, just something small that i can have fun with. Do I want HD? and SD card or harddrive?

HDV. what's your budget? Canon HV30 is a good camera for relatively cheap. in my opinion it's pretty much the best deal right now.
