Me and Mank went on a long journey threw Louisiana to pick up the O.G. Lemonscraft. (as you guys call it Laughing ).

It's been sitting up in storage for over a year now. And it's been having trouble getting full power back. It kicked in and ran good just long enough for me and mitch to get a couple minutes of heaven behind it, then lost power again.

I'm Sea Foaming it right now as we speak.

Just wondering if any of you ever used SeaFoam on a boat, and how the outcome was. Hoping this will solve the problem.

Anyone have experience with boat motors that could tell me why it feels like I'm only running on 2 cylinders instead of 3? anything i could check?

soy escuala, Yea sea foam works great on 2 stroke engines. Cleans 'em out real nice...

Stick a new set of plugs in after you run the sea foam out, and you should be good to go.

If it's fuel injected, run some injector cleaner through it.

If it has a carb, maybe try cleaning it out.

If it's been sitting for awhile, I'd also check the gear case oil...and probably change that out.

Did you put in all fresh gas or is there still some from a year ago in it?

soy escuala, for filling gearcase oil just fill from the bottom til it overflows at the top with no bubbles, you need a gearcase pump

if the current gearcase oil is a milky color you have a leak and you need new seals

for one cylinder being out on an old two stroke id say if not spark plug, definitely a carb

get a service manual and just redo your carbs to specifications and synchronize them its not hard at all, just follow what it says if you chickity china the chinese chicken a jet up it wont run

you could just trouble shoot with the service manual and you should be able to get everything running fine

we're rebuilding an old ass pos 25 yamaha two stroke in marine mechanics right now too haha

and is that a mutiny i see Smile

soy escuala, honestly i couldnt tell you, we use the same gearcase oil on every engine in the class so i'd assume its a fairly versatile type oil, find a service manual it will tell you, they help alot

Hey Ryan, I have used seafoam in ALL my engines since i found the stuff 6 or 7 years ago. You can pure it straight into the carb while it is running and let it kill the engine. Let it sit for like 10-15 minutes and then start it back up. It will smoke like crazy but will clean out allot of crap.

soy escuala, I don't know what type you would need for your engine...I do know it has to be engine specific though...like we have a couple Johnson outboards...and we only use Johnson specific gearcase/lube/storage/cleaner products.

If you don't have a service manual, call up Yamaha, email them or start Googling. I'm sure there are some outboard forums or Yamaha forums or something of the like where people could help you out. Maybe even try calling a local outboard service/sales shop.

One of our outboards, which was fairly new, had problems idling and getting up to speed because it had been sitting awhile. We changed the gas, checked the plugs etc...but it still ran like garbage...so we took it in to the local shop, and it was just the carb that was dirty. Got it cleaned up and it runs fine.
