What is it? 2inches? 1ft? 3ft?

I wrecked my board pretty bad draggin it on the starts in a rocky area...not pretty. Good thing it wasnt that expensive. Any advise on preventing this? Advise on launching in shallow water?

On a different note...I just found this corporate building w/ an infinity edged pool thats like 4-6 inches deep and super big....looked fun, but doubt its hitable...i donno.

^ya...i got some pretty bad road rash lookin ish from eatin it too close to shore, but was wonderin if I was doing something wrong, or if f'n up the board on a slide start in shallow water is the norm...I'm not a seasoned vet in the skate world.

if your board is hitting the ground you know the water is too shallow. LOL

Shallow enough to leave scratches on my board when i turned. We put a rock in a cooler in about 6 in of water to keep it from moving and jibbed it behind my truck.

7-8 inches is enough to ride and turn, 1,5 ft is enough to fall. But still you have to fall as flat as possible. Or do your best to run. Otherwise even a 5mm wetsuit doesn't help Sad

I usually don't have a problem in shallow water but sometimes I'm bad about sticking my arms out when I fall and I don't care if you wear gloves or not that sh|t hurts

Depends what the bottom is.
If it's mud or sand, i'd say around a foot.
If it's gravel or rocks, i's say 2 and a half feet.

grass is my fav. to winch in... falling is like playing football back in the day when you can just dive and slide, plus its really easy to slide from wet grass onto water to start... once we got this random old dude (40's) to winch this flooded soccer field when hes never ridden anything... he loved it.

my basic guidelines
-spillway/drops- as deep as the drop is tall (min 3 ft.)

-grass- 3 to 6 inches (the more plush the grass the shallower you can ride is what i have found)

-gravel/concrete- 2 to 3 feet pending on the gnar-factor of the bottom

I'd have to agree that you should probably lay some ground rules for what you are riding in. The other day we rode behind my buddys SUV in a retention ditch near his complex and the water was about 1-1.5 ft deep so I'd hit some shuvs but wouldn't recommend anything to gnar or something that you haven't landed yet Idea
