You're right. But what's the point of having a sexy car when it spends 85% of its life in a shop with a blown motor! -2, 4 mazduhhhh
|
Rotary Resurrection is right down the street from us Knoxvillians. We can have a blown motor pulled, fixed and strapped back down in a weekend if we put our minds to it
The 2jz 7 is pretty rad, but if it came down do it I think I would rather do a tt LS7 or LS1.
Luckily I'm poor, so I don't have to make tough decisions like that.

shame on you two with your crazy swap talk. boosted 20B ftmfw. and my last dyno session was 400rwhp on low boost, about a year ago. its gotten a few more goodies since then
its all in that tune. i flog the everliving piss out of mine and it holds up fine. just gotta be built for how hard you plan on running it.
2jzFD is mean as balls too. that motor is a tough motherf*cker.
and speakin of 2jz's, have any of you guys heard about Boost Logic's new compound setup? diesel turbo technology=huge power, huge torque, instant response.
they did a shakedown test of their prototype setup on a GE-T motor; 20 lbs of boost by 2800 rpm, 1000+ at the wheels and 500 lb/ft by 4000rpm!

That thing is gnarly.
I would like to have a built ported singled car to play with, but an fd with an ls1 would make a pretty legit dd. If money was less of an issue...
A couple years ago at the RX7 meet at Deal's Gap Steve Khan had a bridgeport 20b up there. I have never heard anything like it.
I agree though tuning is where its at, and its overlooked by a lot of people these days. I've seen so many people talking about how their car is untuned, or waiting on a tune, or whatever. I would have a hard time convincing myself to drive around in a rotary powered car with any mods and no tune. I prefer seals where they belong, but then again I blew one up on a petit ecu so what do I know?

All of my computer passwords are still derived from my rotary fetish!! The FD is on my list of obtainables... One day.
Frye and I will be here on April 19th. Be there or be square.

RedLine Whiine, They're Work Eurolines, 3 piece. Really light VIP rims. They're made to order in japan. I love them.

RedLine Whiine, that z moves the eff out, looks like it runs really strong on the stock twins. I love the arctic white cars too. My first "sports" car was an NA z32, it was a lot of fun to drive, but my dream of making it fast were short lived. I almost got a TT at one point, but I switched to fds instead.

mmmm....works.......i want me some VS-KFs. i like roll racing as well. you have car, i have car. if mine is ever in florida, we should have some fun.
Kan is actually who tuned my car. great guy. have an awesome tuning story from him
about a year ago, i got my car tuned at a steve kan session in STL. a BUNCH of rx7s were getting tuned and we all made a weekend out of it. my car was one of the last ones to be tuned, late sunday afternoon/evening ish. steve worked his magic, i had a huge grin on my face the whole time, and we wrapped everything up and went back home after he finished. had some grub and rested up because my buddy nate (who also has an FD; turbonetics 62-1 single, vmount, ported) and i had planned on taking our cars out and meeting up with a few friends.
we were out playing around on the hwy at 12:30 or so and my knock spiked on me while i was running a very healthy STI. babied the car home, got online to check some stuff, noticed Steve was online and told him about the situation. He had a flight the next morning at 6 am. he gave me directions to where he was staying, told me to pick him up and we went street tuning in EAST STL at 2:30 in the morning! true professional, went back through his logs and had me do a bunch of 4th and 5th gear pulls. turns out the knock was just extra noise from all my solid suspension stuff! he just told me that commander was displaying an accurate following of the knock, the numbers were just off cause my car has an elevated noise floor.
for those in the know, my pfc was giving me a 75-85 knock reading...
and my plans for the next motor are either another 13b but bridgeported this time around or (yeah right, who am i kidding, no way i can afford it) a 20B. either choice will be running an aux injection setup as well.
one of my go-to guys is a 65 year old man that has 500rwhp PUMP FD. only runs 93 in it and is making that on a tiny 60-1 cause he wanted quick spool up as well. the guys a wizard. his old drag car though......bridgey 20b is sex... but this was a supercharged peripheral ported alky 20B running 25lbs. and it was sex with marissa miller.
i've heard enough bad things about pettit that i plan on staying away.
those z's are nice too. another dream project is an OLD school s30 with an RB.

I can't wait until road racing becomes the new trend. Properly setup suspension and real tires > ALL

uidzero, You've got a 510 don't you? Do you do SCCA?
Michael Manzer, I think every RX7 owner knows a guru that they go to when something goes awry. The dude that always helped me out keeps saying he's getting out of the RX7 game, then always picks up another one. His last one was t76 bridgeport. It was not slow.
