McLOVIN, while I havn't ridden any of the newer boards, judging by looks I'd have to say a devotid or verge would be second banana. _________________

I agree with gator skater on this. I'd love to try out a verge at some point, and the devotid bi-levels at the expo were looking good as well. They changed their risers (they weren't the ones that extend under the tail, if that makes sense) and they also have a bracket system that's designed to help prevent the tail from snapping. Kevin said that they were throwing their bi-levels into the water in a nosedive fashion while cruising in the boat and they weren't snapping (and the boards had the bracket system). And again, verge has their bracket system and I've always been impressed with the decks that guy makes.
It might be worth it to try the other decks. The CWB has a completely different concave than a cassette bi and I could not feel that thing flexing (normally with a bi-level you can get that tail to flex in your hands). And the SST is going to have a different feeling as well, since that board is connected down the center as opposed to two bracing points at each end of the deck. And I don't know enough about new's decks to actually say one way or the other..
I don't have a verge gallery, but if you want to peek at the devotid stuff, here are a bunch of shots I took of all of the boards (and their brackets) at the expo: http://www.wakeskating.com/media/showgallery.php?cat=600 _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

wakemitch, there aren't that many up here to demo. I've ridden an oak and an integrity as well, but those don't apply to this thread. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

| McLOVIN, I used to ride the Cassette Bi-level back in the day as well. I'm currently riding a Devotid and love it. To me it is very similar although I have not actually ridden any of the other bi levels out there I have had an opportunity to look/hold them and ask questions at surf expo and to me the Devotid was most similar, that's why I got one myself. |

I have rode quite a few newer bi-levels and the old cassete and if i could pick one that most closely resembled the cassette i would have to pick the Nexus (Verge) but the New bi-level has a very similar feel. On the verge the top deck has a quite a bit more flew then most other bi-levels i have rode and gives a skateboard style feel when riding it. I also like that is pretty wide and is pretty quick. and its only 11 pounds. I love it _________________ -andrew- |
