My understanding per Knox, is that bullet was some sort of a retail distributor for them. They purchased frames and spools for resale, but didnt manufacture them.
From what I've read, my impression of Bullet lines is that Ken Lands is a total dbag that would pipe in on the forums and force his product down peoples throat...ultimately skewing the perception of Released.

mojo, I dont know the particulars, but that was my perception reading some older winch posts on various boards. I made up my mind a while back that I would never buy anything from bullet. Thats just me though.

JeffKnox, i will give you a tenth of what the yoke costs if you can build me a winch in a week!! sold!!
mojo, i dont like either of them, but thats just me. Only a few of the released winches had the ability to adjust the motor front and back like yours.

i actually had a guy at a chopper shop in winter haven, fl rig up the bolts on the underside of the engine mount b/c john who built it just put the slits in, which is great, but very hard to keep good tension on the chain when tightening. all in all a great winch. just needs eye hook stake mounts and maybe wheels, but its so light and i found ways around stakes.

these yokes are imo the nicest built winches yet.
i just don't see a 2,000-3,000$ winch practical for todays market. seems a few of these companys only are able to sell a couple winches then you don't hear about e'm anymore.
now the snowboarding market on the other hand...

Sorry guy's we used to make low end modle winches it's all about building a winch that wont rust and fall apart in a year for us at this point in the game no china part's here. When we go to a show to pull some of the best rider's in the world we dont want to have any problem's with the pull. We would like to give the best and cleanest pull possiable make it a super clean power delivery and pull. your pref drive a geo or a cadillac. Winching the new motor sport

QFT.
Everyone expects something for nothing and it seems that the home builder's have a skewed expectation to be able to get one for close to cost...which is not possible in any other market, so why would winch's be any different? I like your winch and your philosophy. Cheers.

but how is that winch different from any other winch?
pulldozer is the same if not better quality than that, and has releasing spool and more, for half your price.
I could build that exact thing for under $1000

I agree that the prices for winches seem pretty high but I never thought they seemed high until I built my own but also now that I've built my own winch and have it perfectly dialed in I understand why they're priced the way they are most people seem to think they should only cost as much as the cost of parts and they never consider all the time and labor involved in making and perfecting the winch. Now when winches stop being hand made and start being produced out of assembly plants I'll start bitching about the cost too
