i've got a 6.5 honda "bored out" or whatever released did to them, 58t sprocket and torq a verter, 900' rope, and the released spool set on the middle diameter. my buddy is 6'6 220 and can't get up. i have plenty of top end right now when i'm riding. should i make the inner diameter smaller or larger, and do i need to add more rope? i have a spare 600' spool in the garage. appreciate it. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. it's at 6" right now. i can take it down to 4" or up to 8" i just don't know what the result will be either way or if i need more rope once i move it. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. I said take me to the sea and let my mother bury me." Buck-0-Nine |

mojo, smaller diameter = more torque but less top speed and vice versa _________________ http://www.myspace.com/trosswakeskatesftw

you dont want to go any smaller than that.... i would get a bigger sprocket (68 or 72)
if you move down to 4 i dont think you will have enough speed for either of you _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |

thanks. i guess i'll drop it down to 4". i guess i should think of it like a mountain bike gearing(since it helps me visualize). what will adding more rope to the smaller diameter do? _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. it will mean that the closer you get the the winch the diameter of your spool will be bigger and you will increase your speed a certain amount every wrap on the spool....
i really dont advise using a 4 in spool.... but its up to you _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |

what would be the downside? right now it has the ability to pull me really really fast. are you saying it would make the speed to wishy washy? we are going to build a slide start, but can't use em everywhere. my buddy does ride a zariel and i swear it makes it harder to get him up _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. inconsistent speed and putting more strain on the engine... ive found you get much better pulls with larger spools .... i use a 8 in spool
large sprockets ftw _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |

My friend is 220 and 6'3 and I can deepwater start him. I have a 6inch spoo,l 10/58 gear ratio with a 6.5 HP and a TAV. But he can only ride my old 116cm Hyperlite scape behind the winch. He has tried my 39 Byerly and 41 Cassette Transformer and he just cant get all the way on plane with those boards. But next time we are out we are gona have him try the 42 sst too see if it works, So Maybe he needs a bigger board _________________

| would an 8hp engine solve the issue of a deep water start for bigger guys while still allowing not too much speed when they are up? |
