So the airlines make up rules as they go along.. I went to Texas a few months ago and took my wakeskate. Although the bag was shorter and under the limit of what they called "oversized" they asked me what was in it. if i told them what it was they would have charged me $50 cause it's "sporting equipment" That's bull shizzle as far as i'm concerned.. how can they charge more for a bag because of whats in it if it meets there size and weight limits??
anyway what i did was, i told them its a board to rehabilitation.. I said that I'm an occupational therapist.and the board is for kids to practice balance in swimming pools.. not many know what an occupational therapist is so they didn't question it and i took it for free.
I thought this might help others out when traveling.. |

I just carry mine on...in the past 4 years they have never said anything or asked me about it. Just get on early and find an open over head bin.

Yeah, the airlines all have different rules and the people at the airports may not know the rules... a month ago i traveled with my snowboard and they didn't charge me.. the airlines website had snowboards on their list, and it was over their weight and size limit.. so you never know..
The worst of all was when i took my dog on a plane a few weeks ago,, He's a 25lbs Pug. They charged me $150 each way!!! If his carrier was full of bricks, it would have been free to carry on, but since it was a dog they charged me.. How is that fair?? |

I flew to Roatan, Hounduras in 2004 with an '03 Byerly.
I shoved it in a military duffel bag along with all of my clothes.
I had no problems.
When I got back to the States, customs had some questions and they made me take it out for them to inspect it.
They thought it was weird but didnt give me any grief. They just wanted to know what the hell it was.
I felt psyched that I could drop some knowledge about the art of wakeskating to even the most 'square' people on earth. _________________ Your mom is my favorite knee boarder. |
