The man said he will settle for $1.5 million in compensation. |

That's the problem with the world today. Yeah, in some jobs women do get paid less, but they can cheat on a guy, do whatever they want, and if they get a divorce they still get at least half of everything you own!
Word of advice, make sure when you get married that she's the one! Not coming from personal experience but I've seen this happen to good people. I hope this guy gets his kidney back, score 1 for equality of the sexes.

That's the thing about marriage, you either need to have earned everything you have together while you were married (and in that case 50/50 is fair), or if you had tons of money/stock/houses whatever before getting married, you need to protect yourself by using trusts and or setting up a prenup agreement. Keep in mind, with the right attorney, nearly any prenup can be overturned with good reason.. so trusts and so forth aren't such a bad idea to protect yourself.
People say they would be pissed if their loved one wanted them to sign a prenup before marriage, but worded correctly, it's fair to both people and there's no reason to be all upset over it.

| gatorskater, not entirely true. Florida is a no fault state so she would likely get half. But in certain states where fault matters, her cheating could seriously determine what she is entitled to. New York, where this case is, is the only state that still has "fault divorce" so he may have some sort of chance. Lots of things must meet requirements to get this designation, but if he meets them he has a better chance of puttin it to her than not. |
