red rings of death

scary shizzle. happened once before, the day before halo 3 came out and had to send it in, happened 3 days ago while playing halo but i fixed it, just happened while played level 48 of horde with my brother and friend. this blows if i dont get it back in time for skate 2 if i have to send it in, im gonna be all sorts of pissed. anyone else experienced this?

I think everyone that has that console will eventually experience it. It's happened twice to us, we're on our 3rd I think.. I know we were able to return one to the manufacturer and get a warranty replacement for the cost of shipping. The first one fried within 2 months of owning it so it went back tot he game store we got it from. POS but fun when it works.

i work at a game store and it happens to everyone. xbox 360s are pure shít. we get so many back broken. microsoft covers red ring for 5 years though.

I've had my xbox for a year, no problems yet, knock on wood. They were out of the regular 20 gig ones last year so my parents got me the halo 3 one for my birthday. I think it has an extra fan or something in the back, but I also don't ever get to play it for very long.

skateonwater, yeah the elites for some reason last longer. i dont know what it is, but there are a lot less problems with them. we did get one elite back yesterday, but it wasnt for red ring. microsoft needs to step up. i dont know why people continue to buy them. ps3 is where its at.

i think its the games in my view.. ps3 barely has any good games that ive heard about, and the good ones you can get on the box too. but it has halo series and the gears series

skateonwater, halo and gears are pretty much the only ones. people are going to start switching over i think. people want the blu ray and are tired of the problems.

All the guys at my HS have a 360 or want one.

if you have a ps3 you are labeled a prick and tossed into the abyss.

It has a lot more to do with game selection and rep then capability.

I'm am by no means a person who is good w/ electronics and shizzle like that but I had this happen to me and i was too broke to buy a new one but their are a lot of ways to fix the problem and i spent about 20 bucks doing so and it's been working for about two months now w/ no problems... it seemed like a pretty ghetto fix but it worked http://www.instructables.com/id/Fix-the-Red-Ring-of-Deathwithout-towels/

yea it's risky because as soon as you take your xbox apart you void the warranty, but the fix is pretty simple... and i've had no problems w/ mine after fixing it, but my warranty had also ran out so i had nothing to lose.... And dont try the towel trick it's the dumbest thing bc your just frying your xbox and is a temporary fix
