| GOLD!en, the saying "separation of church and state" does not appear any where in our Constitution I really wish people whould stop saying that. What it does say is Amendment I - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speach, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. What this means is that the goverment can not control the church or that the church can not control the goverment. That was the way things in England were. Everytime a new king took power that religion of the county changed And at that time it was either catholic or Protestant |

I will lose all faith in America if someone is honestly stupid enough to off Obama (or anyone else who could have been elected in this election) before he even takes a chance at presidency after letting GW do his thing for the last 4-8 years. |

Is this a serious question? There isn't one law or one policy that put us here, it's a series of them, that's why you never get an answer. But let's start with Bush. He cut taxes, awesome, except he dramatically increased spending. This was approved by a Republican House and Senate... complete republican control up until only 2 years ago. That's economics 101. You can't borrow and spend. Also, bring out your "THE MORE YOU KNOW" stars... In accordance with the the Constitution, Congress ultimately controls spending. And surprise, Congress, although composed of both parties, has been mostly R up until very recently. Hopefully the changeover to mostly D will help us, in addition to a D prez.
Recall that before President Clinton (D) went into office, the US had a large deficit thanks to Reagan and Bush Senior. Clinton in office for 8 years and our economy was stronger than ever and our Federal budget was balanced and the Federal deficit erased and we had a surplus!
Let's just summarize all the BS we could talk about this for months. Red = Republican in office, blue is Dem.
