Its a sad day for the sport, it got me into learning how to take shots. I love 35mm and the standerd was so different, i loved nearly every shot i saw in there, I will miss it greatly. If someone sets up a "save the standerd fund" I will definately put in like 50 bucks, even if in this current economy it will cost me like 100 bucks Aus . Bring it back.... Please _________________

I remember being so impressed when the first issue came out. I hate to see positive things in our sport go away. But you guys should feel free to start submiting to Blast! That way at least your stuff will get out there. Oh, and we accept no vest photos.
The standerd was a cut above the rest, and will be missed. |

I always felt that Alliance Wake or WBM gave off a vibe of the magazine being a joke. The Standerd always felt more serious, the Articles were informative(never happened in the other two mentioned) and the pictures and adds were incredible and inspiring. They always made me want to go out and ride or even to the extent of going out and getting a camera and starting to take my own pictures(even though it never happened). If you've never subscribed to the mag, go out to your local Barnes and Noble or The Standers online store and buy every book you don't own. It's surely worth the money! _________________

The voice between the three mags was always distinct. I definitely appreciated what the standerd was bringing to the the table, because that quarterly periodical just focused on art--whether it be photography or riders being creative on the water. that's why I'm really sad to see it go. their voice was neutral and that made it very easy for a wide audience to grab a hold of what they were about. I also just respect the heck out of josh and joey for going out on a limb and trying to make something happen--like turn an idea into a tangible reality. i really wish It would have turned out differently, but I know we will continue to see more amazing work from the founders and the contributing photographers to the standerd.
And seriously, if you don't own the issue with horrell's profile, you need to get on that before it's gone. i want to buy one more copy because some a-hole spilled all over mine (along with my butter book, which is in the process of being replaced). _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

wakeskate77, I probably have the pages you're referring to. One has him doing what looks to be a re-entry 3 shuv and the other page has him with an original cassette slung over his shoulders.
but anyway, what are you doing with an abercrombie catalog? _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I have never looked through an entrie abercrombie catalog, but the nudity doesn't surprsise me. In the same issue, is there some guy riding a wakeboard naked? where ever that was, my god, it was just so edgy!
And I did go and look at my first post on here. Those were the days. I just think that was a really fun time in wakeskating. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I am so glad I pulled the trigger for that B/W print of Thomas front-boarding the flat bar in Human trailers, NZ... I'm sure we'll all miss the Standerd. It was good while it lasted. _________________

| Quote: | Dear Collin Kornhaus,
Since the beginning, you have played a significant role in The Standerd with your photographic contributions. The lifestyle, culture, and soul in our industry has never been seen in this limelight and we have YOU to thank for it.
Hands down, there is no way we could have accomplished seven groundbreaking issues without your support. Your name, reputation, images and loyal photo contributions will never be forgotten...Thank you, thank you, thank you.
The Standerd has taken on various hurdles and obstacles since the inception of the publication a few short years ago. Our family of subscribers, advertisers, and photographers have ultimately been our backbone of support that has allowed us create seven beautiful books of art. For that, we are forever grateful.
Unfortunately, the economic crisis got the best of us.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that The Standerd is closing, and Book 2.3 will be the final edition.
The remaining inventory of books, prints and other merchandise will be for sale on StanderdStore.com for a limited time.
Thank you again for setting the standard in the way we experience wake.

eletricsnow: Good comments about The Standerd. I just wanted to add to it a little bit. As soon as I heard about The Standerd i jumped on board. Just with the names Joey and Josh you knew it was going to be amazing. And it was, every single issue. You could really see the passion of the guys poured into each book. I think one of the best parts was it was reader supported. The fact that we could submit our own creative ideas is unheard off in this industry. That is what made this thing so special. I could probably go on and on about this topic, but I will spare all of you. I just want to add one person to he list that is often over-shadowed by the 2 amazing photographers, James Krawczyk. He was the guy behind the guy behind the guy. For those of you that don't know this name, you should. He was the design mastermind behind this very special project. Big ups James. Hit me up when you get a chance.
The Standerd was special and unfortunately there will probably never be another collection like this for our industry ever again, unless these guys pick up where they left off. |

| OTT: Never got to meet him, but I did interview him once for school. He is a supper passionate guy and inspiring. I got all that just from what The Standerd was all about and talking with him. |
