Obama destroyed him in my opinion. He could have done a better job clearly pointing out how McCain and friends in the white house drove us to this economic crisis. It's also clear that McCain just wants to focus on spending even more money on Iraq while continuing to neglect programs at home for the people that matter. He even said he'd pretty much cut/halt everything except defense, vet programs, etc. I'm not in the top 5% of Americas wealthy elite so Obama's plan makes more sense to me. They're the ones reaping all the benefits of this current administration so it's them for them to give back a little.
Obama's foreign policy is also spot on IMO. He knows the entire world is looking at us right now like we're a bunch of dipshits. We've over extended ourselves by starting two wars that currently have no end in sight. Our leader completely under estimated the toll they would take on our military our economic status. The problem with the current fake Republicans is that they say one thing and do another. They're supposed to be fiscal, for small government, and against gov intervention of our constitutional rights. Yet here it is in late 2008 and we've got the largest government this country has ever seen, we are losing rights under the guise of "national security", and to top it off we're pretty much owned by China now because they're bailing us out of this financial crisis.
We had a surplus of money when Bush took office, our economy was great (I know I was making almost twice what I make now), and our military wasn't involved in a bulljive war that was started under false pretenses. We simply aren't the strongest nation in the word anymore and it's sad. We need to fix our world view and take care of the people that matter right now, Americans. Do you really think we should be spending 10 billion dollars a day to fight a war for a country that has a 70 billion dollar surplus when we're trillions of dollars in debt?
I've pretty much lost all faith in this countries ability to choose a leader. We've become a nation of people who vote like they cheer for their favorite football team. Most take no time to look at the issues or candidates objectively and simply base their choice on some selfish issue like abortion, gay rights, or gun ownership. I refuse to align myself with either party but in this case I'll be voting for Obama. He's got fresh ideas and that's exactly what this country needs. _________________ -Paul
