De Oro, Gnarly Dancer 42, Would you share your experience as to which boards (style, brand, rocker, etc.) you personally felt rode better with and w/o fins? _________________ forever shreddin' |

wakeshredder, i feel like most concaves with a small flat bottem need fins because there is a bunch of room to rock back and forth on. when you have a larger flatbottem on the base of the rocker, it allows the board to ride a little smoother than it would if it had a short flat bottem
there is a big difference between 12-16 inch flat spots
also, the rails on a board really effect how it edges,
ever notice why the 4-trac rode so well? it had the same destinct edge all the way around so you really didnt need a fin with that board because it was so light.
now there is another thing
weight, it definatly is harder to scoop a light board with fins compared to a heavier one.
i like concaves like an oak style or our DEvotid concave with fins because i think it feels a little more slippery than a bi level. i donno its hard to explain fully i guess
i tried. im skippin class tryin to study, bare with me... _________________ ninja's 4 Life

wakeshredder, for me pretty much all bi levels don't need fins; with the exception of the sst, because its lighter; they weigh so much and that adding a fin would make 3 shuvs super hard. basically bi levels won't go anywhere unless you force them to.
and i'd say pretty much all concaves need at least one fin because it makes wake to wake a lot easier, it wont feel squirely, and landing tricks with the fin in back makes riding away easier (i cant land kickflips on concaves without a fin in back) _________________ http://www.stickandflick.com

i like the way the fin claims the landing on some bomdtrack tricks....\\
1 fin opens up some options on rails and such other wise i rock the deuce. _________________ dbanana wrote:
