Went for the first pull on our winch last weekend and the chain stretched and kept falling off. What's the simplest solution?

p.s - We have a few mods to make and then i'll toss some photo's of the contraption up on here. Laughing

remove links... move the pillow blocks out more with spacers (washers or something), slide the engine out more on the frame. I also have heard that they make half links, that are half the size of a normal link.. but personally haven't seen one of those.

word. I need to get new bolts for the pillow blocks then. (to short to add washers) will the chain eventually stop stretching or will this be a constant problem?

Chains stretch a lot at first when they are new but the stretching slows way down. If the holes that they engine bolts go through are ovals like most engine mount plates have then just slide the engine back some. If there is alot of slack in the chain then you need to take out a link or two or however many it takes to tighten it up. Half links are cool but you should need it that precise. You should be able to take out some links and then slide the engine for the fine tuning.
