is wakeskating really about style or is it about getting your friends to try new things and watching them get worked?

a 360 body varial seems impossible to me....in order to spin fast enough to stay near the board....the handle pass would slow ya down.

There are people that have done it. I think it's even in a video my friend was telling me about the other day. It might be Metronome. ( I think)

If you do consecutive body variels, it is not as hard as it sounds. It looks like a figure skater on water though. If you want to do somthing like that then, do a 180 then body variel before you land. Much harder but looks really cool, It's like a body bigspin.

all tricks start out sloppy and work their way to perfection. how many people thought that a 540 flip could be landed off an eight stair? at somepoint down the line some one will say "wow, the 540 varial is impossible." etc etc

Style and pop. These I think are the two most important things in wakeskating. Taking ollies and tricks like shuvits and 180's big is better than hucking a 720 shuvit along the water, which indistinguishable from a three shuv from the boat. Not to compare it to the sport everyone loves to hate, but its like in wakeboarding, I think seeing Parks do a 1080 or Darin try a triple front is cool and an incredible feat for the sport and its boundaries. However I'd much rather watch Necrason do a tweaked out melan 180, or see Parks do a huge indy backside offaxis 180, than see someone flip and spin like its Cool Boarders 4. Leave the ridiculous tricks to video games.

What looks better in a snowboard movie, a huge floaty grabbed backside one, or a guy trying hit a 1440 by spinning like a figure skater. In wakeskating style is all about control, like how Thomas does his tricks so effortlessly, or linking tricks like Danny, or popping them huge off the water like Byerly's 3 shuv's or Reed's lip tricks.

But should you pursue this 360 body varial, make sure you keep your legs tight together when you spin and point your toes for style points, the Russian judges love that.
