| Do you realize where the problem is that faces the winch? Its not a lack of business skills I'm a law student and thats where the problem starts. You cannot sell a product like the winch in its current state because of liability issues that will never be overcome. Its to dangerous for kids to operate and most wakeskaters are kids. You can put all the clauses you want in "hold harmless agreement" bottom line is they got hurt on your product they can sue. Anyways the demand is not really there, how many are we going to sell 300 maybe if that. I would rather make this thing a limited production and keep value and quality high. Do you want the real deal or some pop off model thats going to last 10 min. Besides take it from the creator how many times do you think you can ride behind it before it starts to get old? I would rather ride behind a boat. This product is a novilty, the pro's are the ones that can put this thing to use, photo shoots, contests, demos, wait until they get rid of them and buy it off them or maybe they will give it away in a contest, hey thats a good idea.

I think these things have long lifes at riding schools, and theres more and more of those every day! and for someone that doesnt own a boat (and cant afford to buy or keep one up), or know alot of folks that do, or have a lot of lakes around, ie everyone in SoCal.
I think the winch is like the driving range; where you can practice that one shot all day, develop good muscle memory and fundamentals very quickly, this is very difficult and time consuming behind a boat because there is always someone waiting to go next, and then someone after him. Not to mention the expence. just like Golfing at a course, expensive and time consuming.
Now I know that there is no substitute for riding behind a boat or pwc. that is where we have the most fun and go the biggest, hangin out with the crew n all, watching each other ride all day checkin out all the eye candy. the winch will allow us to practice without as much time and $.
so how much?
how much for the whole thing?
how much for the frame only with instructions?
I weigh just over 230, so i want the fattest one you can build
and i need it shipped out west
overnight!

my mates and i built our winch (search 'The Reactor') for under AU$600 (about US$440) and thats with a brand new 13hp engine, rope, clutch and a couple of different sprockets we tried during testing. made over the span of 3-4 w'ends.
does deep water starts and everything else u need in a winch.
why are these previously mentioned winches so expensive? leaves me with about $2200 to pimp out our winch with a stereo and rims and other assorted bling.

jerrysk8, mine is 2200.00 usd b/c everysingle part on my winch is more expensive and robust than any comparable part on any other production winch except perhapts the neverride but as for the briggs based winches I have always wondered why they cost so much and for anyone who wondered the electric winch got scrapped b/c it was too rube goldberg-ish and clunky to be practical
