How did you find wakeskating where you live?
Here it is all around us but some of you guys live where there are no wakeskaters at all.
I was just wondering how you found the greatest sport ever? |

good topic. My parents had always had a place up at a lake and when I was born they put me on a wakeskate to become a prodigy. just kiding
but they alwas had a lakehouse and i used to wakeboard and ski alot and i was kinda getting over going up to the lake just wanted to surf, then one weekend i went up and my friend who also had a house up at the lake brought his friend who had just boughten a new LF impulse 41 and I thought id give it a try. I landed a shuv and a 180 and went home and told my dad i needed a wakeskate. i was hooked, went home and bought a skate, probably one of the best things that happened to me. _________________ http://www.bigotebros.com/ |

i grew up skateboarding and snowboarding, but never bought into wakeboarding. only strapped like twice a year when i went up to our cabin.
went to the skate/surf shop one day and there were the liquid force cassettes. bought6 the green boombox 45" and there you have it. |

first of all let me say this. It fiznackling sucks. I started out this summer because my dad got a boat and I've always thought wakeskateing would be cool to try but never wanted to get into it because I didn't have a boat. I thought that would change when he got the boat.. I've been out a hand full of times but i'm always trying to find a third and can't ever do it. This leaves my dads friends... they just fiznackling wanna fish or swim.. which is cool.. but I'll get 2 falls in and they will want to stop my set. Its so fustrating. Plus my dad doesnt know how to drive, and he shows off by going fast through his wake and making me eat shizzle.
sorry that was kind of a rant. haha and not a very good one at that.
But yeah.. I'm trying to find people where I live. I've tried talking to the guy that makes the pulldozer.. but idk.. i don't think he wants to ride wiff me
Should I just pack up and move to Florida? |

A few people wakeboarded here (me included). Then my buddy and I saw these things at a shop and bought one just to try it out and mess around with it. Took about a solid year to phase out the wakeboard b\c everyone here wakeboarded. Now the skate is my whip and my buddy never really picked it up, he only skates when we ride ski. |

I dont know if anyone has a sun and ski sports shop around them, but I went in the sun and ski looking for fat sacks (2nd pair) for my ski nautique, and I saw the Blue foam top 2003 Byerly. I was like "I wonder if that could be fun". So I said fvck and fat sacks and went with the skate. How could I or anyone else forget such an epic day? |

I'm pretty sure there has been a thread like this in the past but I'll contribute since I'm at work and wouldn't mind reflecting on the past...
I am from Wisconsin and we have tons of lakes. I wakeboarded alot when I was in middle school and high school. After high school I moved to the Rockies (Vail) to get my snowshred on for two years. My second year I hung with these two dudes from Eufala, OK. They worked at a Nautique dealership down there and took a winter off to learn how to snowboard. Anyway, when we weren't snowboarding/snowskating, we were puffin & indo-boarding but with a Cassette wakeskate on the roller, not an indoboard. It was an old Cassette (02)and it was so much fun. When the snow melted, instead of staying in CO, I went to Oklahoma w/ those dudes and tried skating on water. I loved it, every second. When I went back home for the summer, I showed up to hang out with my friends at the lake and I had a wakeskate instead of wakeboard. After a couple times out, everyone wanted to skate and soon after the wakeboards weren't even being brought out. Then everyone started buying their own skates so I bought a ski to get the progression train moving through Wisconsin.
Skated ever since, haven't wakeboarded for five summers now. I don't even own one anymore so when new people come out to the lake, they have no choice but to learn to skate.
ahhh, thanks for the opportunity to reflect. The good ol days, before responsibility even who I was... _________________ thrashdad.com |

MY Story
I found out about wakeskating in 2004. I was in Al Taji, Iraq watching the hurricanes hit FL. Uidzero and I talked all the time on the internets and I guess when hurrican Charlie came through they started wakeskating in his backyard with CGA PFD. They sent me a vid and I was totally stoked on it. I didnt have the means to get started while I was in the desert but if I did I wouldve. I waited until I got out of the Army in early 2005, got back to FL and started shredding. I stopped wakeskating for about 2 years or so for reasons I dont want to get into but last summer picked it back up and have never looked back _________________ http://www.wakeskateclips.com/ |

I originally lived right on lake travis in texas so i grew up with wakeboarding and got pretty into that. Later i moved out to san diego and got really into skateboarding, but due to an ankle injury i had to quit, so naturally the next move was to progress onto wakeskating, and i'm glad i did |
