So this weekend I went and visited my buddy in Michigan and he is really into skimboarding. Him and his friends just bought a Banshee skimboard bungee and it was really, really fun. It is basically a bungee chord that you anchor into the sand and it has two handles on the end. You have people pull you back and then it launches you and probably gets you up to 20+ mph or so. It made me think that maybe it could be cool for wakeskating, to hit a rail or something in shallow water. Much less versatile than a winch but way cheaper.

Or you can just find a puddle in the park and skimboard on it until it is nice and muddy and huge. Thats what I used to do Laughing

skimboards do skim a lot better across the water than a wakeskate.

DirtyCracker, i wish i could say i have faith in the man made winch. but it doesn't really seem plausible.... unless you got like 8 people at once

is anyone familiar with a block and tackle?
http://www.howstuffworks.com/pulley.htm

I don't really know how to set it up.. but i mean in theory if you get enough pullys and set it up right you could hook it too a bike and have some one deep water start.

i can't find the video but the army uses' a block and tackle to get a humvee unstuck.. they just pull it out no problem.

Its a long shot but what do you guys think?

I've been watching the tour de france recently. The best cyclists in the world produce 350 watts of power for their daily rides. In american units 350 watts is approximately .47 horsepower. Gearing and pulleys just allows you to put your power to better use, it won't add anymore power.
