EJazzle, I learned that the hard way aswell. We were all wearing noncga vests and be had to be escorted to dry land because we didn't have any life vests onboard. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/nizzate/ |

So why can't someone make a CGA vest that doesn't suck? I've been wanting to get one for the safety issue, but everything I've seen or tried on has really sucked, just too big, in the way, and uncomfortable. I looked at every CGA wake vest online that I could find and really didn't see anything I liked, I think oneil should do a CGA pullover gooru style vest, I'd buy one... |

Soulprogression, its just that they need a certain amount of floatation in them and when you try and add the CGA regulation amount they always end up being super bulky/ugly/annoying.
the coast guard should lower their standards _________________ -Cape Canaveral- |

Soulprogression, the problem is alot of wakeskaters wakeboarders ect arnt huge dudes, to be CGA approved the vest must have 15lbs of floatation, heres where the problem is, it doesnt matter the size of the vest, it needs 15 lbs of float. so a xxl and a medium need the same amount of float. ive picked up CGA vests that are huge and they felt really flexy and comfortable, but when i found my size in the same design it was bulky as hell. being in shape FTL _________________ I run show where ever I go. |

lower standards means lower population lol, not really funny but true, I'm sure someone could figure out something, or how about a noncga compvest that inflates after a really gnarly impact, a little too advanced i guess. |

Or one that inflates when it goes a certain distance under water. _________________

I heard on wb.com that someone is coming out with a new material that's supper thin but very buoyant. However a type III approved vest has to have a zipper and two buckles or something like that. So you aren't going to get a pull over approved vest. |

I personally agree, there is no reason to not wear a vest. What? you want to look cool? I always rock a vest no matter what. No it is not coast guard approved but if there was an emergency I have a gut feeling I would not sink to the bottom and my friends would be able to get me. Last thing I would ever want is for someone to have to call my mom and tell her that I drowned because i wasnt wearing a life vest |

Yeah, nobody really ever has that "I think I'm going to sink to the bottom and drown today" feeling but apperently it still happens. _________________

I had a good childhood friend of mine die from a drowning accident last summer. He was climbing back onto a boat dock when the ladder broke loose and took him down with it. Don't know if a life jacket would have saved him or not, but he wasn't wearing a life jacket. He was probably the best swimmer I ever personally knew in my entire life. I can't imagine what his friends that were there went through, but I know it shook me up really bad. Just be responsible and wear a vest. Think of it kind of like not wearing a seat belt.
There is one ncga vest that I have worn that floated me (6'1 200lbs.). Try out the Oneill Vapor _________________
