obvious rip off of 4-trac!!

check the new Alliance, on the first page there is a picture of the new Byerly skate, it has a big ugly "thing" on it for nose slides, is it just me or is this the most obvious bite of the 4-trac ever, I mean I half expected that from Hyperlite, but I honestly expected more of Byerly, not only that but it appears to me that this "nose slide fin" would actually make it harder to ollie, and shuvit, anybody else seen this, opinions!! Mad

all it is, is the gate with a new graphic from what i can see in the ad.

Supposedly, they were shortening the Gate and widening the kicktails according to Brandon Thomas. Why the hell would PARKS get his own wakeskate??!?!?!? Honestly, Hyperlite treats wakeskating like wakeboarding's little brother!!

Rob - it is hyperlite and Parks equals sales. Plus Parks is pretty good on a wakekate. I don't know if he is pro-model good but he does get some coverage of his skills on a wakeskate.

yeah man , i was in wakestock and grubb showed me the new fin its pretty crazy , its almost like a skateboarding truck. but yeah if thomas doesn't get the gate as his pro model thats just stupid.

the weird thing is that the fin is placed at the end of the tunnel near the middle of the board.

So I am trying to picture this. Does it have like two screws and some sort of flat base ?

dont know about the screws but is not flat based.

if you took the fin off of the board it would look something like this n.

I don't think it's fair to say its a rip of a 4trac... Yes, they both try to achieve the same goal and the 4trac did it first, but its not like its that similar of a design. If you want to use that argument, you might as well say that Cassettes are a rip of Hyperlite because, at the end of the day, Hyperlite had a floating non-binding board first (the waterskate). No one is going to make that claim (myself included). Everyone is trying to get more skate style, so obviously they are similar in that they want to accomplish the same things.

i think its pretty cool. it looks more durable than 4-trac fins would be and also would be better for nose and tail presses.
