Wildlife officials captured and killed the animal after the incident... they must be sending a message to the gator community.

brassmonkey, One time there was a gator in my lake, that would just come and sit next to my dock. My mom got so freaked out that she called fish and game, and they came out and captured it. Then brought it to Lake Jessup.

When I'm on the water, I worry in this order:

1. splits/rope getting caught on foot, arm (frye)
2. water mocasins
3. amoeba lol
4. aligators

Gators really are peaceful and if you walk right up to them like say on a golf course, they won't do anything. You have to really tempt them or mess with them to get them to be aggressive towards you.

Getting in and out of a deep water lake isn't going to attract a gator. It will simply swim away if you fall near it, they are more scared of you anyway.

nah ive been pretty close to gators before and they always dip. they are so scared of us. this kid musta been effing with the poor gator.
