|
|
Everyone,
I just wanted to post and clarify some information about the SFWA Wake-n-Skate Rail Jam this weekend.
The entry fees are as follows:
1. Pro Wakeboard-$60
2. Pro Wakeskate-$60
3. Am Wakeboard-$40
4. Am Wakeskate-$40
So here is the clarification part:
1. The tournament is open to everyone. You do not have to be a member of the SFWA to participate nor do you have to join the SFWA to participate.
2. The entry fee covers everything to participate. Riding and insurance. So if you want to join the Am Wakeskate, it is $40 dollars and that is it, nothing more.
3. You can join more then one group.
4. The "pro" and "am" designations mean nothing. It is totally up to you as to which group you join. The prize money is greater in the pro division so the competition will probably be as well. If you think you ride at that level then do so. There is no predetermined criteria for either group.
5. Still open spots and you can sign up that morning. Registration starts at 8:00am.
Here are some photos of three of the four rails to be used at the event. The four one is being installed tomorrow and will be an a-frame-ish type thing. I will post pictures of it. These are in the lake and can be hit now.
Again, sign up and more information at www.sfwake.com

-=AlexXx=-, because it would defeat the purpose of calling it a rail jam. No point in calling it that if they're judging tricks not on/off rails.
cenflskate, who cares what it's pulled behind. Riders should support people like the SFWA for putting on a grassroots event, instead of calling it lame.

MikeG and Kyle,
Thanks for the support guys. The SFWA is working hard to change the scene down here. As you can see from some of the replies people have lost sight of what the sport is about. It has become this certain thing or that certain thing and everything else sucks. That is a small view and that is what we are trying to change. Open eyes to the many different aspects of the sport. What makes wakeboarding and wakeskating (especially wakeskating) so great is the inclusive nature of the sport. The fact that it is so unique to the individual through style and expression. In wakeskating specifically the options are unlimited; winching, cable, boats, jet skis. To hate on any one of them indicates a small view of what the sport and lifestyle is and that is a shame.
Opening the sport to others to see it in a different view is what this organization is about. Our Pros and Joes event did that in a different way and this event will also. It is a rail jam. It is designed for tricks on a rail. Many people have spent the last two months and lots of $$ to build these things so that we can have a sick event that accommodates something different in the sport. I am glad some people can see it for what it is.
Finally, Alexx and crew, the flat tricks will have a tiny place in the event. There will be a 50 gallon barrel in the water that tricks done over the barrel will count in the scoring. If you tricks are that dialed it should not be a problem going over the barrel. However, the rails will make up the vast portion (90%) of the scoring.
Any question, just write me and I will answer them. Bottomline, get involved in the sport and appreciate it, ALL of it.
Jimmy Beno, SFWA President
