Ok my winch pulls up to 160 pounds just fine but when we pull my 200 pound friend it will deep water start him but it needs more top speed, He dosnt plane all the way. I have 10/60 gear ratio and a 6inch inner diameter spool also have a 6.5. with a tav. What can I do to get more speed? _________________

sounds to me like you need more torque to pull the big guy out.
try a bigger driven sprocket. |

Are you running a torque converter? If so a 15/55 will do the trick. _________________ arson-wake.com |

sandiego4real, if you or someone you know is good with small engines you could take the gov off the engine. more rpms would help. _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

Do you think a 10/54 ratio would fix this? _________________

that would give you more top speed fo sho.
But u might be sacrificing some of your torque. |

Calskater23, im no mechanic, but that MIGHT end up in some type of piston failure. (Explosion or Melting?) _________________ Grrr... |

i ran mine open governer the whole time i had it, and i belive that Brett Leadly is still doing it. there should be a governer arm under ur gas tank, run a throttle right off of that. it will seem limp when the engine is not running, but when u start it up, the governer will engage and u can see which way to pull it. have fun |
