Vid editing software

I was just wondering, for when i get home and get some more footage, what people use for video editing software on a PC. I really really want multiple, transitional picture in picture's. Like i would like to get about 14 videos running in the one frame that can be used like a transition to move about and such (it may sound cluttered and everything but the way i want to do it, hopefully will look good). Ive been researching into vid editing programs and liek the most video overlays i can find is like 4 or 5 or somethin.

I wanted something that i could edit the shape of the picture in picture (like say a rounded square or a a rectangle at like 75% which follows the contours of an object in another video) and also apply a transition to that picture in picture, like change its hue and saturation and then be able to move that picture in picture to another spot. I dont mind how hard it is to use (as long as it doesnt mean learning a whole heap of code) cause im playing around with a trial version of a program at the moment, but all i can do is add a video, then put another video on top of that (and im limited to a square for that vid overlay, i want something i can rotate on axis and change the shape of that overlayed video) and i can move it around the other video, but this program only allows 1 vid + another vid on top.

I really want like 1 background vid (or picture) then like multiple vids over that which are individually editable and moveable. I can maybe possibly do it in macromedia (or adobe watever u wanna call it now) flash mx, but i have forgotten most of the action scripting and all.

Please help, I have some good ideas, i just need a program to back it up (and i know "get a mac" but i dont have the money to buy a whole new comp).

Adobe After Effects!!!! You can simple 3-point edit and create some awesome visualizations. Then get adobe premiere to put everything together......You can find all this stuff from bitlord.com and mininova.org

Lousy Hero, i thought finalcut was only for mac.

Do u rekon sony vegas can do what i need? Cause it looks like a pretty nice peice of software

vegas corporate edition is pretty nice. i'd have final cut if i had a mac though.

I recommend using pinnacle studio 9 plus if you got windows and if you have editing experience, do not get the 10.0!!1!!!11!!one!!1! its more user friendly and has less features/effects.

cloudeater, i have stuidio 11.2 plus and its amazing i like it better than premiere pro and vegas put together....

JonnyBravo, i have vegas and i highly doubt that it can do 14 vids in one frame... i know you can probably do it with pinnacle just might take a little while.
i know that you can do picture in picture, chroma keying and cut a and crop a video

but for exactly what your gonna do which is pretty complicated. you would absolutely need to learn adobe after affects.. to get the full affect of what you are trying to create..

download a trial off adobe's website, and if you like it get it, you will have to spend some time learining that program though....

ya deff if you have a mac .. get final cute.. but to tell you the truth i have been using sony vegas.. and its dope really fun to work with for small videos

Yeah i was thinkin i would probably have to use an adobe program of some sort EJazzle thanks dude, u really helped. And yeah i was lookin into pinnacle, but i heard that program had some nasty bugs, but that may have been just an earlier version.
I will probably end up getting adobe and figuring it out. Ugh, its a good program but sometimes they just make it too complicated for its own good Razz

JonnyBravo, no problem! i heard the same thing about the earilier versions of pinnacle, so i was very very skeptical. but once i got 11 and downloaded the patch it has been my favorite video editing program by far! i have never used final cut though.....

dont forget to download the trial BEFORE you spend $700. try after effects and premiere pro. but download them when you know you will have the time to play around with them. it will take a little while but you will get used to it and LOVE it!!

oh yeah one more thing i love about pinnacle is the " backround rendering", pinnacle automatically starts rendering the video for you as you are still working on your project. when using Adobe you have to press "enter" and let the WHOLE timeline render before you do anything. its kind of a pain now that i'm used to backround rendering and not having to wait 4 hours for a video to render

EJazzle, Thanks dude, yeah i really need a good program to render it nice. Funny thing is, im actually looking into flash at the moment to create all the animations, seeing as i still remember a fair bit more actionscripting than i thought i did. That and i found out i dont need to code that much. Still i need a program to edit footage, cut it to the length i want and render and all that jazz. O well i guess ill find this all out when i get back home and fiddle around with more than just a laptop.
And dont u worry ill be postin it up, just dont expect it for a bit, need to get a whole heap of new footage..... Very Happy

Pinnacle 11 is really good and easy to learn! i highly recommend it!

Lol ejaz, i would love for u to come down and film and be a part of it but you would have to fly down to australia lol. Im only in america right now to shred for a bit then watch the byerly toe jam (and sadly i dont have a vid camera while im over here). So i gotta film when i get home. And im gonna need A LOT of footage so you may not see anything for about 2 or so months, cause im gonna edit this all B E A U T I F U L. ANd plus using flash (its a strong program) but its really labourious work, sooo many little nit pickin things i gotta do.
But yeah if u come to AUS, def hit me up, we will get ya out and about (come in december but, its winter over there atm)
