i bet it hits 20 mph in like seccond or third gear.

and if its FWD you will probably get really good deep water starts.

im not saying it doesnt go fast enough, or have enough torque, im just wondering if you can get a consistent pull.

Hyperlite_06Byerly, i see what your saying.

I think where ever you are pulling would need to be fairly flat.

i rode a four wheeler the other day. it deep water started me and pulled fine. sorry for the crappy quality of the video but here's me riding behind it, i'm so close to shore because the rope broke earlier in the day so we had to resort to using half of a chain.

in this video i was riding, he hit a small dip when i through the shuv so i had no tension and just slid right back, onto rocks. i was bleeding Smash

are you just getting pulled by the quad or are you replacing one of the wheels with your spool?

We rode behind the 4 wheeler quite a bit while we built our winch. Actually worked pretty well. It really wasn't any harder to get a good pull than a boat or ski.

looks like they are replacing the wheel with an empty rim... i agree with oury... without a lead for the rope it could be very dangerous

i would just use the 4 wheeler to pull instead of making it a winch

Check the vid out and you will see. they are just using the atv like a boat, and towing the rider from land.
