hey fellas, wakeskatedude and me are in the progress of building a winch. we've already got an engine sitting around (16hp honda knock off)and the cad plan are almost done. parts should be here sometime next week. so let the welding begin... Very Happy

beardo, right man! the bottom one is a Comet 40 7,5" Driven Unit. i'm lazy so i didn't bother drawing out the belt or the chain. otherwise you would easily see.
we'll have a releasing sproket on the spool axle too. i'll be adding some more screenshots as i will proceed in the drawing process.
spool walls are being laser-cut right now Cool

rope is some yellow 3mm dyneema with breaking strengh of 500kg. don't quote me on that though, better ask wakeskatedude.

first pulls will hopefully be this sunday.

the original TAV's with the floating second axle allow for a much thinner frame width !!!

great job man

i would put a plastic spool guard on it thou, stops the engine getting all wet and stalling

big bertha finally got finished and test ridden yesterday! that thing is one solid pull!!! i mean what can you say - 16hp and and a 40 series tav!
deep water starts in an blink of an eye without ripping out your arms!
nice!
some details are still to come and next weekend we'll add some paint...

that is the hard way (recessed the bearings) but it looks better,
it takes 6h to make it (measuring, using angle grinder, measuring, welding, measuring, using angle grinder, measuring, make corrections, ..... a life for hours like a metalworker Smile )

the pull is unbelievable Shocked
