well obviousyl it wouldn't just be fiberglass, but would have a foam core of some type. they have composite top and bottom decks so i don't see why you couldn't combine the too. It should be lighter too.

hahahaha
the top deck i thought was wood on a zariel. at least pieere from frances 42" was all wood. i saw it with my own lookers.

the one were building now has bass/maple wood core enclosed in 19 oz glass/dura-surf and the bottom deck has reshapable edges. we'll be doing these for 09. when they come out the press you shape them and never "coat or spray" any wood at all. were using a special weave fiberglass to keep a good wood feel to them too. not too much glass but enough to protect it and beat the $hiat ou of it. keep an eye on our new blog from the site for more info on this exct skate and the concave thats similar to it.

but its being done as you type though. I promise.

kevin

devotid, would your friend have had a sample or something, or perhaps a different top deck completely? Both reed's first prototype and the board at the surf expo had fiberglass, and the expo board model had sidewalls (UHMW or something). I have not had the chance to hold a final product that was on the shelves, but I would be surprised if they'd change that because the top deck is just as an important component to protect as the bottom deck. I'm sure someone will clear it up.

Both the top deck and the bottom deck are wood on the Zariel. The bottom deck has a abs sidewall but the top does not. They both have a fiberglass coating on both sides of them. The fin holes and screw holes also have abs inside of them(the wood never comes in contact with the water).
