the only shoes ive used are the byerlys, doyles, and dvs triumphs, i like all three really well but my favorites are prolly the doyles in terms of function. the doyles hug your feet really well so you dont get very many rocks in your shoes when you walk around. (which is important for me) the byerlys ride just as well as the rest but my friends have started to rip on the upper toe after about 4 months of use.

Only problem with the UGP's is they are a little heavy when you ride.h

Just by looking at vans you can tell there awesome for skating. They mold to your feet, have more grip than any skate shoe on the market and have a nice thin and soft sole that molds to the top of the board. Plus they're comfy and come in about a billion diferent designs for everyones tastes.
I tried 6.0's and i couldnt feel the board at all, plus the soles were too stiff and the entire shoe was just to big and puffy.

I have a pair of UGP Doyles and I like them. Somebody said before that they were comfortable and they are.

A friend of mine did, he only had one shoe after the first wipe out. Laces are a good idea.
