Winchboarding!

I tried out my winch for the first time the other weekend, downtown Minden. It was funny so many people kept stopping and asking us what we were doing! So the local paper shows up and starts asking me questions about my winch and what i was doing! I pick up the paper yesterday and there is a whole article on "winchboarding" behind some contarption!!! I have alot of older customers that come into the shop for work on thier cars and always ask me " what the hell is that contraption?"
I usally explain what it is and they tell me I'm crazy!!! LOL
I think its funny that they called it winchboarding! even after i told the reporter I was wakeskating!! i am so glad that summer is on its way and our riding season in ontario has begun!!!

Winch-boarding the Gull

There was a strange contraption on the banks of the gull river in Minden last friday evening which turned out to be a custom built winch, cleverly built by Ryan McDougall. powered by a 6.5hp briggs and stratton engine and armed with 600ft of rope and a centrifugal clutch from a go-cart, the plan was for ryan to wake-board the Gull courtsey of the power supplied by this odd winch unit.
In the past, the setup had apparently worked well on the snow, but the waters drag and the rivers current proved to be more of a challenge.
After several short lived and very chilly rides ryan and his mentor, Dave Howell, concluded that some minor tunning was required. as seems to happen with most important inventions, it was "back" to the drawing board for the time being.
According to a reliable source, modifactions are under way at a secret location, and Ryan promises to return to ride in the near future. Count on the voice to keep you up dated!!!

That was the article they wrote!! And I was wakeskating not wakeboarding!! But everyone around here thinks wakeskating is wakeboarding.
