heres a quote from a facebook group, Good idea or bad idea?
| Quote: |
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, WE CAN DO IT WITHOUT HURTING OURSELVES.
How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.
But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

best way to avoid gas prices is to just use alternate fuels... theres plenty out there... and until the government actually passes a functional law that forces america to start utilizing these fuels we will remain under the control of rich oil tycoons _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |

RUSSIAN, there's a Valero station right around the corner from our shop that has 89 for $3.89. It's consistently the cheapest gas that I've found from a "major" gas station and it's not exactly out of the way, either. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

| Exactly how did a war in the Middle East make for "cheap" gas here? We don't see any of it from the Iraq War. |

Everyone thinks it's bad now, just wait till summer when the real gas prices come out.
Trey, You don't get cheaper gas because you guys are in Iraq. Your country went their to secure and protect your oil resources that they have become so dependent on, and to spread democracy. _________________ ~ www.integrity-wake.com ~ www.iwinchglobal.com ~ |

| EJazzle, I would hook u up man if my dad made more then 5 cents per gallon he sells, he used to be able to make nearly 10 but since the gas prices are so unforsakenly high he tries to make it better for the customer and acctually make a subsntionally less profit by only charing 3-5 cents per gallon. He has been stuggling for 3 - 4 years now, whne we bought the station about 7 years ago we could pay rent with the gas profit then make profit off beer/cigs and other store goods, now we are struggling to pay rent with all of it and not making much of a profit. To buy a tanker of gas it take nearly 30-35 thousand dollars, and the gas company takes it straight outa my dads bank account within 48 hrs if we have the money or not, and if we dont its just a large fine. It sucks. Things have to change, but belife me trying to starve the gas station and other stupid things everyone loves to suggest is not goig to stop it, i can promise you this. |

It does hurt the wallet when fueling up, my only advice is to take friends and let them pitch in for gas. 30.00 bucks doesn't get you 10 gallons. I spent 70.00 for 18 gallons of premium on Sunday, that was a half tank in the boat. Glad I only needed the 18 gallons to fill it up.
The real down fall is it hurts the economy, prices of everything goes up when fuel rises, although beer has been steady _________________ In just two days from now, tomorrow will be yesterday. |
