has any one installed a tower themselves and if so, did you have to re-enforce any part of the boat to do so. the guy at the marina said they may have to "beef up" the boat.

I have a rinker captiva, i wanna say its a 2000.

any insight is welcome

check out DIYwake.com, they got a bunch of homemade tower builds/installs and also some straight up tower installs. It's a pretty helpful site, check it out!
Cheers

Also monster towers says that if the fiberglass in the area of the install is less then 3/8" thick then you need to add reinforcment fiberglass in that area. Hope it helps, good luck with it!!
Cheers

I made a tower for my 72 manatee. There was only a layer of fiberglass maybe 1/8 inch thick that we were mounting it on so we put a round metal plate underneath the fiberglass and put the bolts through both to give it more support and hold.

I think that the 3/8" thickness in the fiberglass should still apply for that tower, you might be able to get away with a steel/alum reinforment plate but since it's a newer boat it should have the thicker fiberglass anyways.
