that's a cool rail. i want to hit it. for beginner wakeskaters, i think that yes that is too difficult. i'm mostly saying that because it looks like, on that rail, when you start to go up the incline, if you fall off you're gonna nail some plywood and 2x4s head on. definitely a bad thing. there are many things you must take into consideration, though. have you ever hit a rail before-on your wakeskate or wakeboard? do you have rail experience in other board sports? make sure to wear a helmet while attempting your first rail. and a lifejacket. and don't hit that one. i would say, build a little flatrail like 20 ft long and 1andahalf ft high, and then have a nice gradual incline going up to it. you obviously know how to make rails, and when you make the flatrail have wood on the sides so you don't kill yourself. good luck and happy sliding.

you can do it. no problem. Here are some tips:
1. Approach- When you are approaching the rail, you want to edge out past it, when you are about 10-15 feet away because since the boat is pulling you back torwards it you will want to counter-act that force. You probably want to hit it on your heelside edge.
2. Hitting it- When you hit it, make sure you are not on an edge, this will cause the board to slip out and you land on your ass in serious pain. Some people like to hit it already boardsliding on the water, but i prefer to hit it 50-50 then my naturual reaction is just to turn boardslide once i get on the rail. I would reccomend trying to be in a boardslide on your first time, because if you hit it 50-50 you have a higher chance of falling forwards/backwards and its just harder to balance in a 50-50. Try to keep the handle as close to your body as you can, so that if there is a sudden jerk, you can let your arms out to stop yourself from going flying. Have your legs slightly bent to absorb the force of the solid object.
3. Sliding it- Once you hit the rail, its not really all that hard to balance, just try to keep equal weight on both feet and focus ahead of yourself. If you look at the rail you have a good chance of your whole body following your eyes. Thats not good. Keep your upper body straight and your legs bent and ready to absorb.
4. Landing- The landing on your rail may take awhile to master because its a sudden drop off. I would reccomend just bending your knees, but make sure not to lean back or you will probably get a rail up the butt. When you hit the water absorb like you would from a two wake jump, and you sink into the water, its kind of like a deep water start. Just try to keep bothin hands on the handle so if you do have a problem, you are able to hold on.
i dont normally wear a helmet kuz i cant see or move with them on, but i would reccomend wearing one.

yeah dude, seriously, the best way to hit a rail for your first time is...
Tell the driver to go 10 or 15mph faster (hit it quicker and less of a risk of falling off)
Then, hit is backside. Remember to keep your foot placement really close together and near the back (or front, depending) of the board and ride of smooth.
Oh yeah, dont wear a helmet.

dude it might be a little hard to start. it looks awesome but the important thing is hows the transition. if it's abrupt i wouldn't hit it but if it's butter smooth and you can boardslide a skateboard. go for it. wear a helment and a vest and maybe a wicked rash guard so you can be cool in hot pink and go for it. be safe and have fun. keep in mind the only thing worse than not hitting a rail is not be able to even ride cause you're all busted
