I thought he "used" to work at a furniture store.

Anyway, here's a thought. only the 5-10 top wakeboarders can truly live off of wakeboarding, so the number of wakeskaters that can do it will be a fraction of that number. It's still so young and not everyone "gets" it yet. But in time, more people will be able to enjoy the rewards of their success...just work hard (that's what grubby did).

yea thomas has the job, imagine working for cassette, testing new boards and designing new boards. Then in his extra time, he would get to go to contests and screw around. Talk about awesome

Sourcing materials, running numbers, arranging distribution, making sure production runs work out fine...

It's not all fun and games.

Greg, regardless of what you said, there still aren't that many people that can live off of wakeboarding comfortably (and no, I 'm not including the kids that live with their parents and dont' have to pay for health insurance, rent, or gas costs). Anyway, there is even less money in wakeskating (as I mentinoned) so that number will decrease dramatically. Remember, even thomas horrell was droped from supra once he started to wakeskate full time...

Plus, outside of wakestock, there isn't much contest money either.

Josh my e-mail is wacky so I haven't been able to get back to you (I can't even access my e-mail). I'll probably PM you at some point. I have a hotmail account, but I can't remember your actual e-mail address. Later

When did he get back with supra? I read in alliance that they droped him once he stoped wakeboarding and he's had the same boat for a few years.

Byerly has had nautiques for awhile and it's not because he's a wakeskater...

Grubb is the only wakeskater I can think of that has a boat deal...he must be doing something right.

I know aaron reed wanted something to happen with nautiques, but I never heard if he worked anything out or not.

I know Grubb really didn't get popular until he started wakeskating, but he has been in the game for a while now. Did he have a boat sponsor before he broke out into the wakeskating scene? I don't think he did because I remember posting the article on Wakeboarder.com when Malibu signed him and he was already well known for wakeskating.

Here is a quote from Paul O'brien's interview in Alliance:

Quote:
A lot of people don’t know Grubby has actually been sponsored by Hyperlite for seven years. He was just one of them boot guys for the first half. Brian is one of the most stylish riders I have seen.

I'm pretty sure that the Cassette guys are hooked up with Sea Doo.

YOu're right about the seadoo thing. Thomas got one from them before the season started (the VTC edition.)

As for grubby, do you have "daily dose?" He's actually wakeboarding in that film. He really didn't become popular until he wakeskated. Grubby actually talked about his history with hyperlite in his "rider of the year" interview with alliance from about two years ago (myles vickers has the cover).
