What up guys,

How long is too long for a video? I have 3 years of footage, from FL to WA with stops in between...... I have over 2 1/2 TB of logged footage that I am picking through...... I could make a double disc dvd so easy, well I have enough footage, the not easy part is editing it in a manner that is entertaining and not Dragging and boring........ Don't get me wrong, most of the time i wish the video was longer..... But maybe that's a good thing, makes you keep wanting more, make you watch it again, I don't know how many times I watched Homeless. I've been editing and clipping all day. And I have so much sheet to look at...... It's nuts.....

Tell me what you think? Am I wasting my time watching so many days and days and days and more.........

back to clipping...

O.T.T.[/i]

personally, I don't think any wake dvd needs to be over 45 minutes. Once I've seen a video all the way through I will usually skip the intro and one or two sections when I watch it again. If a video is longer I would just end up skipping more sections. And really there is only so much you can throw into a video before stuff gets repetive anyways. If anything get 45 minutes of your best footage and make a kick ass video, then with any excess footage that you still feel is good throw it on a bonus disk of just raw, uncut footage.

OTT Productions, i don't think a skate-vid can be too long (only if very poorly edited and i've never seen stuff like that by you).
as you said, it could be a multi dvd with the right portion of riding on each dvd or a flashback on the years you have the footy from. choices are unlimited and just need to be chosen Wink
even if it ain't all hammer after hammer thrown down, i still would enjoy watching a long, evening covering, film if it has that mellow vibe to it that everybody feels when they are out there dancing on the waters...
and still, if you would just put it together, piece by piece, without forcing it into a certain direction, it will get it's own life and thus turn into an unique piece of art. so just go ahead and do what you feel!

I guess it would also depend on who's in the video

one of my favorite wake vids is for what it's worth, and i think that film was close to an hour...but I like how that one was done, like good riding, music that will keep you into the video, and then some funny lifestyle footage in between.

However, if not done properly, I think a video can be too long...when I have one like that, i skip over the crappy parts and just watch what I like.

ultimately, if there's stuff you really want to use, maybe create some bonus sections and things like that.

only use your top notch footage, dont drag on with filler tricks. Some lifestyle footage is necessary any video to get the desired vibe, but if you are thinking its already going to be too long just be careful with it and use it sparingly.

Music is going to play a big roll in keeping people entertained. The style of music for In Its Travels was good but because the movie was longer the music was making me sleepy.

zak,

you have so much wakeskating documented, i think it would be a shame to hold a lot of good footy back in order to make the video fit a small time window. You have years and years of footy, lets see it! Very Happy

I know that you have so much stuff from so many places, and of so many riders that you can easily make it a two disk video. maybe one disk for the video, and a second disk for "bonus" footy? or if you made it two disks, with an intermission in the middle, that would also be sick.

I find that too many wake, and snowboard videos are just too short, and they leave me wanting more. OTT is always a blast to hang out with so im sure the good times you have caught on film wont get boring to watch.

cant wait Cool

You could make like a main vid that's around 45 mins, then do what Sidewayz did in Such is Life and do like a Concourse B...which is just the left over footage put together in a shorter movie.

As long as it's not boring music, then I don't think it could be too long.

zak it is your movie you will get board with it before anyone else will!!! trust me i have been there. keep a little variety with the footage and you will not regret it. look at the new lakai video it was an hour and twenty minutes long and it was epic the whole way through. and i think your judgement will be a lot better then most! have fun with it i know banger fest 08 will be a great vid to watch! bonus features are key.

p.s. try to stay away from any hardcore or metal when choosing the music.

love,
keef

it can be as long as you want as long as were not seeing 1337 3 shuvs, 980 boardslides, and 620 handle tosses. Variety is the most important thing, with music being a close second
