Subvert Magazine contest

Ok as many of you know about 5 months ago subvert held a photo contest to win a pair of the dvs dresden wakeskate shoe and some ambush stuff. I won that contest however i never really won. I still have yet to receive anything from them except run arounds from the people who run subvert. I dont want this to escelate more than it should as I dont want to subvert to get a bad rep or anything i just really want my stuff. ANyways if anyone knows how to contact gavin (i dont need justin) please let me know. All i wont is waht was promised to me and i can put this behind me and go and have some fun on the water.

yeah im pretty bummed about it, i had talked to justin about it who is obviosly a part of subvert and he basicaly kept giving excuses and saying i was getting the first pair and what not but these shoes have been available for over a month and i never got chickity china the chinese chicken all from them. I would have atleast though he would get gavin to talk to me and help me out or something consudering they're partners but i got no help except an email adress that doesnt even work. I like subverts ideas but there morals seem to blow and i cant beleive the lack of sincerity that cam from them. All i can say is i now wont be buying a subvert magazine or suporting them at all from here on out. I hope many of you would feal the ame if this happened to you.

A few years ago Krown Wakeboards had an online contest and I won that.....I was promised a board of my choice, as was outlined in the contest.

Yeah, I never got it, despite talking to them and everything. I've learned through multiple "promises" from wakeboard companies that you really cant expect anything from them.

If you do end up getting a prize or something, just be excited that you actually got it.

Wow parky, you certainly are a class act about this (considering they aren't even your shoes). "I knew the mag wasn't going to get out..." You've got to love that attitude...

Anyway, it's a shame you didn't get your shoes, but it seems like something may have fallen through for them...as in things don't seem to be going their way. I don't know if you tried talking to buywake about the situation...perhaps try to get their (buywake's) side of the story to see if there's any hope in getting your shoes, or maybe just to find out what happened between the two of them.

I will say that I've spoken to gavin a number of times and he was really psyched about wakeskating and subvert. There is no way he'd ever intentionally screw you over or anything. Like I said, something just must not have worked out with them (or something isn't working out...I dont' know what the future holds for the mag).

Whatever, it's easier said then done to say that they should just buy a pair of shoes, considering they were probably getting the shoes for free in exchange for some sort of promotion that never happened (personal speculation). On top of that, they were the only ones to actually try and make a wakeskating magazine, and now everyone is shi++ing on them. Yeah, it completely sucks that they weren't able to come through with the shoes, but that shouldn't tarnish everything else they tried to do. And the people that are doing the trash talking (is) are the one(s) that begged for coverage and interviews. Funny...but I'm over it. It's just interesting how people work.

And it's bad that sam is coming through with the shoes. I think it's pretty insane that he gave away five pairs of shoes on the dvs site last week. So support DVS...

electricsnow, you dont get it... you think that where shitting on them just becuase they didn't send nick the shoes... where shitting on them becuase there being dicks by beating around the bush about it when we ask them... at least they could come out and just say sorry we dont have them... yes they tryed to make a skate mag... w\e we still got alliance and wbm ... and how is it bad sam is coming through with the shoes

yeah i have talked to a number of people know such as sam rotto, the boys at buywake and they were both stunned by the situation. I never asked for anything in the email except for any contact info for gavin. I got responses that really uplifted the situation and i coldnt be happier with the wake comunity at this momment. This is why i love wakeboarding and wakeskating. Such a tight comunity and almost everyone has everyones back. Its prety amazing. I have expressed my fealing to subvert with some contact info i received and i hope they now understand what they have been doing is in total lack sincerity for me and the wake comunity. Anyways im glad this all ending and i look forward to ridding.

these guys are in the early twenties, the work full time and go to school full time. so most of there money goes to bills and school. its gavins last year and then maybe they might have more money to save up for the mag.

now you can support the cause for a all wakeskate mag or you can keep buying wakeboard mag with 4 pages of wakeskate in it. bitching on here about some shoes is stupid. yeah so what if there top of the line.. walmart has velcro for $10. go buy it. and that $70 to go buy the shoes for the kid, well they prob. would like to pay one of there bills or put it towards getting the mag back up.

funnyfeni, That all sounds good and all and we should feel bad for them since they were unable to get the mag going when they expected, but at the same time if you put up a contest and advertise winning merchandise, you better make sure that the money to pay for said merchandise has already been accounted for and set aside to protect yourselves from bad publicity.

Since they obviously did not do that, they not only did not get the magazine up yet, but they make themselves look bad at the same time which could impact their image in the future if too many agree with how I see it. I hope they do eventually get the magazine up and going and reprove themselves, but they surely did not improve their image by not having the funds to pay for the prizes.

Feni and electric are both right. Catalyst, if 70$ isn't that much, why can't you go out and buy some yourself? I'm 15, I don't have a job, and I'm about to order about 200$ worth of stuff, including the buywake dresdens, and nobody but me is paying for it. It's hard to get a magazine up and be in school. I can barely keep up with my own school work.

Seriously, would you rather have a wakeskating magazine that prints out new issues every month (which they are working towards), or some shoes that are gonna be obsolete next season?

I've said it before, I'll say it again, stop whining and ride.
